The Flyers spent Tuesday night trying to climb out of the same hole that buried them a week earlier, and the ending looked familiar. Philadelphia again faced a three-goal deficit early in the second period, again pushed back within a goal in the third, and again came up short, falling 4-2 to the Minnesota Wild at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The loss dropped the Flyers to 4-9-4 and left them with another frustrating night built around a rough opening stretch they never fully escaped.
Minnesota wasted little time seizing control. Matt Boldy had room to work and beat Dan Vladar high at 4:06 of the first period for the opening goal. Thirty-one seconds later, a lucky bounce off a skate landed perfectly for Michael McCarron, who finished to make it 2-0 at 4:37.
The Wild carried an 8-7 edge in shots after one period, and the pressure only intensified after the intermission. Forty-two seconds into the second, a bounce off the official sparked a Minnesota rush, Boldy put a shot on goal, and Joel Eriksson Ek buried the rebound to push the lead to 3-0.
Philadelphia finally answered at 14:24 of the second when Tyson Foerster redirected Jamie Drysdale’s shot past Jesper Wallstedt. It was Foerster’s third goal of the season and gave the Flyers a little life heading into the third.
That momentum carried over quickly. Just 1:48 into the final period, the Flyers cashed in on the power play when Porter Martone found Denver Barkey in the slot for Barkey’s first goal of the season, trimming the deficit to 3-2.
But that was the end of the rally. Wallstedt shut the door the rest of the way, and Minnesota sealed it with 1:24 remaining when Danila Yurov scored into an empty net.
Boldy finished with the opening goal, an assist on the Eriksson Ek tally, and four shots on goal. Barkey’s first goal of the season came with two shots and three hits. Eriksson Ek scored what stood up as the game-winner early in the second.
The bigger picture for Philadelphia is hard to ignore. The effort was cleaner than some recent nights, but digging out of a 3-0 hole was too steep against Minnesota, and the Flyers couldn’t stop the early snowball from taking over. The win over Utah on Sunday now looks like only a brief pause in a stretch that has produced four losses in the last five games.
The Flyers head out on a five-game road trip next, starting Thursday night against the New York Rangers at 7 PM.

Flyers New Alternate Look Leans Hard Into Philadelphia Pride
The Flyers are adding another layer to their look this season with a new alternate uniform built around Philadelphias identity. The club unveiled the Independence Edition, a gray-based jersey inspired by the Liberty Bell and the citys place in American history, giving fans a fresh design that ties the team even more tightly to its home base.
The sweater will show up in select games beginning Nov. 3, and it is already available for fans to buy online and at team stores. For a franchise that has long leaned into its Philly roots, the new alternate is less about a simple wardrobe change and more about turning that civic pride into something players can wear on the ice. Flyers Roster Shuffle Just Created A New Question About Alex Bump
Bobby Brink is back in Philadelphia to face the Flyers, a return trip that naturally brings a little extra attention given his relationship with the fan base. It is the kind of game that invites a quick look around the roster, too, especially with the Flyers still managing a few moving parts as they try to settle into a rhythm early in the season.
One of those questions now centers on Alex Bump, who was sent to the Phantoms and could be back in the mix almost immediately. Rick Tocchet has left the door open for a quick recall, and the timing adds another layer to a roster that has already seen its share of shuffling, much like the ongoing goaltending rotation between Dan Vladar and Joseph Woll. For a team still sorting out roles, Bumps next step is worth watching closely. [Read more 🡒]
Flyers Unveiled A New Look Fans Will Definitely Debate
The Flyers added a new talking point to their wardrobe on Nov. 2, unveiling a hometown remix jersey as part of the NHL and Fanatics Hometown Remix campaign. The look leans into Philadelphia identity with a Liberty Gray base, Liberty Bell-inspired design elements and the familiar Flying P logo, now accented by raised lines meant to echo the bells casting.
For a franchise that has long leaned on one of the leagues most recognizable color schemes, any departure is bound to get attention, and this one is no exception. The jersey will be available through official team and Fanatics channels, giving fans a chance to decide quickly whether the new style feels like a fresh nod to the city or a sharp break from tradition.
