Flyers Ink Rising Star Cole Knuble After Collegiate Triumphs

Flyers secure a key prospect as Cole Knuble steps into the professional arena, hinting at a promising influx of young talent.

The Philadelphia Flyers have made a strategic move by signing promising prospect Cole Knuble to an Entry-Level Contract, fresh off his collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame.

Knuble, hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, penned his rookie deal with the Flyers following Notre Dame's exit from the Big 10 playoffs at the hands of the University of Michigan. This decision seemed inevitable, and now, with the ink dry, Knuble is set to embark on his professional journey within the Flyers organization.

In a timely nod to St. Patrick’s Day, the Flyers announced Knuble's two-year entry-level contract, set to commence with the 2026-27 season. Given that Knuble is 22, his rookie deal is shorter than the typical three-year contract for younger players.

Adding intrigue to the mix, Knuble will join the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the remainder of the season. This stint offers him a valuable chance to acclimate to the professional level and contribute to the Phantoms' playoff push.

Knuble's college career showcased his potential. In his sophomore year, he led Notre Dame with 12 goals and 39 points over 34 games.

Although he had the option to turn pro last summer, he chose to hone his skills with another year in college. This past season saw a slight dip in his stats, with nine goals and 31 points in 36 games, but his talent remains evident.

While Knuble isn't expected to be an offensive juggernaut, his potential as a solid bottom-six center is promising. As the Phantoms navigate a tight playoff race, Knuble will likely start in a supporting role, needing to prove himself alongside more seasoned players like Philip Tomasino and Lane Pederson.

Knuble's signing marks the beginning of what could be an exciting influx of talent for the Flyers and Phantoms. Fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of other prospects, such as the highly-touted Porter Martone and Jack Berglund, who is currently gearing up for his SHL playoff run with Farjestad.

As the season winds down, these developments offer a tantalizing glimpse into the future of the Flyers, with Knuble and his fellow prospects poised to make their mark.
