With the regular season just four days away, the Philadelphia Flyers are down to their final preseason test. They’ll face the Washington Capitals on Saturday evening in the fourth and last exhibition game, and most of the opening-night group should be on the ice.
Puck drop is set for 5 p.m.
The Flyers have not put out an official roster for the game, but the expectation is that many of the NHL regulars still in camp will dress. There are 26 players left on the roster, and most of them have only gotten into one preseason game so far.
There are a few absences to note. Denver Barkey is day-to-day and will not play.
Dan Vladar is also day-to-day and out for Saturday. Joseph Woll cannot dress after already appearing in the maximum two preseason games allowed for NHL veterans.
That leaves Aleksei Kolosov to handle the net for the full game, with the Flyers still working through a backup solution.
Washington’s lineup is already set, and it features a heavy mix of young forwards, defensemen and two goaltenders.

The bigger question, though, is how all of that scoring talent fits with the rest of the picture, especially in a league where stability in net and true top-end finishing can swing a season.
