The Flyers got a boost on Sunday, with Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett both coming off injured reserve.
Philadelphia announced the move as the club prepares to close out a short homestand, starting with the Utah Mammoth on Sunday and followed by the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Konecny, 29, had been out for the last 10 games after suffering a lower-body injury in Philadelphia’s 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on October 8. He has played five games this season and has three assists, but no goals.
Last year, the London, Ontario native led the Flyers with 68 points, finishing with 27 goals and 41 assists. He added a goal and four assists in Philadelphia’s 10 playoff games.
A first-round pick by the Flyers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Konecny is in his 11th season with the team. His best regular-season production came in 2024-25, when he posted 24 goals and 52 assists for 76 points across all 82 games. He is in the second season of an eight-year, $70 million contract.
Tippett, 27, has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury he sustained in the same 2-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on October 15. Through nine games this season, the Peterborough, Ontario native has one goal and one assist.
He put together a strong 2024-25 campaign, scoring 28 goals and adding 23 assists for 51 points in 81 games. Tippett also recorded a goal and an assist in six playoff games.
Drafted 10th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2017, Tippett was acquired by Philadelphia in March 2022 in the trade that sent Claude Giroux to Florida. He is in the third season of an eight-year, $49.6 million contract.
The Flyers enter Sunday’s game last in the Metropolitan Division with 10 points through 15 games.

Flyers Need A Response In A Reset Game Against Dangerous Utah
The Flyers are back home looking for a clean reset after a rough stretch, and the timing of Utahs visit makes the challenge even sharper. Philadelphia has spent the last few days trying to steady itself after a losing streak, and the roster picture is starting to shift again as the club prepares for a game that feels like more than just another date on the schedule.
Utah arrives with confidence after an overtime win and enough offensive punch to punish a team that is still searching for its footing. Philadelphia will need a sharper response in front of its own crowd, and the lineup could get a boost with Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett trending toward a return after Saturdays roster moves. Dan Vladar is expected to get the start in goal, which adds another layer to a night that already carries some urgency for the Flyers. [Read more 🡒]
Flyers Already Face A Make-Or-Break November Stretch
November has already taken on an outsized feel for a Flyers team that has dug itself into an early hole. Philadelphia sits last in the Metro Division and has spent much of the season chasing its game, with the road struggles and lack of finishing standing out most. The roster has also been dealing with injuries, and several key players have not delivered at the level the club needs if it is going to stay in the race.
The bigger concern is how little margin for error remains. The Flyers have been one of the leagues least productive teams, and the defensive numbers have not offered much relief, which leaves every game feeling heavier than it should this early in the season. With a playoff spot already looking like a steep climb, this stretch is less about fine-tuning and more about finding out whether Philadelphia can turn things around before the standings start to separate for good. Flyers Finally Looked Whole Again In A Win They Needed
The Flyers got a much-needed reset at Xfinity Mobile Arena, where a 6-3 win over the Mammoth snapped a three-game skid and offered a glimpse of what the roster can look like when it is closer to full strength. Matvei Michkov, Noah Cates, Christian Dvorak, Oliver Bonk and Cole Knuble all found the net, while Dan Vladar turned aside 19 shots to help steady a team that had been searching for a cleaner night.
Just as important, the lineup had a different feel with Travis Konecny and Owen Tippett back after missing time with injuries, giving Philadelphia more of the speed and depth it has been missing. The win does not erase the rough patch, but it gives the Flyers a little breathing room and a better sense of where things stand before they turn to the Wild next. [Read more 🡒]
