The buzz around Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts just won't quit. This week has been particularly intense, with ESPN's Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler delivering some harsh critiques.
They've pointed to issues like Hurts' body language and his handling of coaching, even revisiting the four vertical routes called in last year's playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Adding fuel to the fire, The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane reported that the Eagles aren't planning to extend Hurts' contract this offseason, making 2026 a potentially pivotal year for him.
It seems like everyone has something to say about Hurts right now, and not much of it is positive. However, there’s one intriguing suggestion from Eagles beat reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks that could shake things up.
Appearing on SportsRadio 94 WIP, Shorr-Parks proposed that Hurts should take a stand. "If I was Jalen, I would call their bluff.
I would say pay me or trade me," he suggested. "I would demand a trade, yes.
I don't know if I would sit out, but I would voice my displeasure with them."
This idea might not sit well with Eagles fans, who generally don't want to see Hurts leave. Plus, Hurts doesn’t seem like the type to demand an exit. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has shown strong support for him, and head coach Nick Sirianni is also in his corner.
If these reports hold water, the focus will be on Hurts working with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion to elevate the team's performance. Hurts has already shown enthusiasm about collaborating with Mannion, more so than with former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
As the offseason drags on, Eagles fans are bracing for more twists and turns. And let's not forget the ever-popular A.J.
Brown trade rumors that always seem to pop up. The drama in Philadelphia is far from over.
