Troy Aikman's Emotional Cowboys-Eagles Moment Meant More Than Fans Realized

During a touching Monday Night Football tribute, Troy Aikman was visibly moved as he honored his late friend and colleague, David Moulton, who had a profound impact on his life both professionally and personally.

The football game on Monday night was supposed to be the headline. Instead, the broadcast paused for a far more personal moment, as ESPN honored longtime sports radio personality and Monday Night Football spotter David Moulton during the Cowboys-Eagles matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

Moulton died over the weekend after a six-year battle with stage four renal cell cancer. He was 59.

During the fourth quarter, Troy Aikman and Joe Buck took time to remember Moulton, a colleague they knew well from years of working together on FOX NFL coverage on Thursdays and Sundays. The tribute hit hard, and Aikman was brought to tears on the air.

Aikman had already shared his feelings after Moulton’s death, calling him his“right -hand man,” and reflecting on what their working relationship became over time. “Since 2018, David Moulton has been my right-hand man in the broadcast booth,” Aikman wrote on Instagram.

“What started as a professional relationship became a friendship I have cherished. David was loyal, dependable and a warrior until the very end.

He deserved better.

"My heart breaks for his family and all who loved him. I’m grateful for the years we shared and will miss him deeply. Rest in peace, big guy.”

Moulton’s wife, Julie, confirmed his death on Saturday with a statement that described both his fight and the pain of losing him. “It is with a completely shattered heart broken into a million pieces I share that my loving husband, David, died last night while in hospice care at the Douglas Center for Caring,” she wrote, according to the Fort Myers News-Press.

“David battled stage four renal cell cancer for six long years. It metastasized to his bones two years ago.

He never stopped fighting or trying new treatments. He loved life and loved each and every one of you more than words can express.

We are so thankful for the love and support you all have given us.

“My sweet husband you are finally free of pain and with all our heavenly angels. Thank you for blessing us with the gift of you and for sharing your beautiful life with all of us.

Cherish every second and he did. Love you.”

The tribute served as a reminder of how much Moulton meant to the people around him, both in the booth and beyond it.

Eagles Trade Deadline Reality Just Got Hard To Ignore

Five straight losses have pushed the Eagles into an uncomfortable spot at the NFL trade deadline, where the conversation has shifted from adding help to potentially moving pieces out. With the season sliding and future draft capital suddenly carrying more weight, league chatter has started to circle around several names on the roster, especially players whose contracts make them easier to deal before the deadline passes.

Moro Ojomo has drawn the most attention among the expiring-contract options, while the broader list of possible trade candidates also includes Riq Woolen, Dallas Goedert and Kelee Ringo. Hollywood Brown is in the mix, too, after being a healthy scratch against the Panthers and then popping up in reporting as a player who could be on the move soon, which only adds to the sense that the Eagles are bracing for a deadline that could look a lot different than the one they planned for a few weeks ago. Nick Foles Just Turned Up The Heat On Eagles Culture

Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles added a fresh layer to an already uncomfortable stretch in Philadelphia, questioning the state of the teams culture after the club dropped its fifth straight game. His comments pointed to a broader concern about how the locker room has changed since the departure of former offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, a name that carried real weight during the most stable years of the franchises recent run.

Nick Sirianni pushed back in his response, choosing not to get pulled into the noise around the losing streak. He said his focus remains on the relationships inside the building, with the Eagles trying to keep their attention where it belongs while outside criticism continues to pile up. [Read more 🡒]

Eagles Offense Suddenly Faces A Bigger Problem Before Commanders Game

A week that already felt precarious for the Eagles took another turn on Wednesday, when six players were missing from practice ahead of a pivotal NFC East meeting with the Washington Commanders. The timing could hardly be worse for a team trying to steady itself after a five-game losing streak, especially with the offense already forced to adapt without its starting quarterback.

Philadelphia has been managing life without Jalen Hurts, and now the injury report has added more uncertainty around two of the pieces the offense leans on most. Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith were both sidelined from Wednesdays session, leaving the Eagles with even more to sort through as they try to keep pace in a division game that already carried plenty of weight.
