Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a fresh defensive approach under their new Defensive Coordinator, Christian Parker. When asked about the system he plans to implement, Parker emphasized flexibility over tradition. While the base defense will be a 3-4, he highlighted the importance of adaptability in today’s game, where nickel packages are prevalent.
“We’re going to be multiple,” Parker explained. “It’s about the players you have.
Our core will be a 3-4, but we’ll incorporate 4-3 spacing and 4-2-5 in nickel. Being versatile is key.”
This adaptability is crucial because different players thrive in different schemes. Parker’s focus is on leveraging the strengths of his roster.
“Beyond the fronts, it’s about building the coverages and having a mentality on third downs and in the red zone,” Parker added. “It’s about designing around the players. I’ve taken insights from various influences to build something unique.”
Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are making significant changes for the 2026 season after a disappointing offensive performance and early playoff exit. Gone are OC Kevin Patullo and OL coach Jeff Stoutland, with Sean Mannion and Chris Kuper stepping in.
Mannion’s task? Crafting an offense akin to those of the 49ers and Rams.
Running back Saquon Barkley is enthusiastic about the new direction.
“I’m super excited,” Barkley shared. “Entering Year 9, I’ve seen many systems, but this one feels refreshing. It’s a new challenge and an opportunity to grow.”
Barkley acknowledged last season’s inconsistencies that prompted the overhaul.
“We weren’t consistent enough,” he admitted. “We’ve made changes, and I’m eager to learn and move forward. Every year is a new battle, and we’re ready to compete for a Super Bowl.”
Head Coach Nick Sirianni also considered adding Jets OC Frank Reich as a senior advisor, highlighting their close relationship and mutual respect.
