Ravens Request Interview With Former Eagles OC Candidate Declan Doyle

As the Eagles scramble to fill a critical coaching role, a rising offensive mind draws interest from rival contenders-signaling deeper concerns in Philadelphia.

The Eagles’ Offensive Coordinator Search Takes Another Twist with Declan Doyle Out of the Picture

At no point during the season did anyone expect Declan Doyle’s name to be part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching conversation. And why would they?

The Eagles came into the year as reigning NFC champions, riding the momentum of a Super Bowl appearance and stability across the coaching staff. They had continuity, with an offensive coordinator who’d been there since the beginning of the Nick Sirianni era.

There was no reason to think that side of the ball would need a major shake-up.

But as we know all too well now, things unraveled-and fast.

What was supposed to be a follow-up campaign filled with dominance and playoff confidence turned into a season marred by regression, inconsistency, and ultimately, disappointment. The offense sputtered, the rhythm vanished, and the Eagles crashed out of contention well before anyone expected.

Kevin Patullo, who was elevated into a more prominent offensive role, didn’t deliver the results the team needed. And now, instead of preparing for a trip to Santa Clara and another NFC title game, the Eagles are back at the drawing board-this time, searching for a new offensive coordinator.

That brings us to Declan Doyle.

Doyle, a young and fast-rising offensive mind who hasn’t yet hit 30, was granted an interview by the Eagles as part of their coordinator search. He’s known for his work with tight ends and his development within a modern offensive system, and while he wasn’t initially a name on most radars, he quickly became a legitimate candidate.

But like several before him, Doyle opted out. He withdrew from consideration shortly after the interview process began, joining a growing list of coaches who’ve either passed on the opportunity or chosen other paths.

That decision didn’t end the story-it just turned the page.

Not long after stepping away from the Eagles’ vacancy, Doyle drew interest from another contender: the Baltimore Ravens. According to a report from Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Ravens have requested to interview the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator, which adds another layer to the situation. While that move doesn’t directly involve the Eagles, it does raise an eyebrow.

If Doyle ends up accepting a role elsewhere-especially with a franchise like Baltimore, known for its organizational stability and playoff consistency-it could further fuel the narrative that the Eagles’ OC job just isn’t as attractive as it once was. Whether it’s concerns about job security, philosophical differences, or the weight of expectations in Philly, the optics aren’t great.

The Eagles’ offensive coordinator search has now become one of the more intriguing subplots of the offseason. What started as a quiet internal decision has evolved into a public process with twists, rejections, and now, a spotlight on how the league views the job.

The clock is ticking in Philadelphia. The longer this search drags on, the more questions will be asked about the direction of the offense-and about who’s willing to take the reins of a unit that, just a year ago, looked like one of the most dangerous in football.

For now, Declan Doyle is out. The Ravens are in the mix. And the Eagles are still looking.
