Alec Bohm, the Phillies' rising star, chose to stay tight-lipped about his legal battle with his parents following the team's 5-3 Opening Day triumph over the Texas Rangers. Bohm, who had a solid performance with a three-run homer, opted to focus on the game rather than personal matters when approached by reporters.
The lawsuit, which has stirred up quite the buzz, alleges that Bohm's parents, Daniel and Lisa, mismanaged millions of his dollars. The claim is that they used limited liability companies to divert funds from Alec's personal accounts for their own benefit. Filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, the suit seeks at least $3 million and a thorough accounting of the disputed funds.
Daniel and Lisa Bohm, through their attorney, have denied any wrongdoing. The allegations trace back to 2019 when the LLCs were initially set up to manage Alec's earnings as a professional baseball player. It's claimed that his parents convinced him to grant them a 10 percent interest in these companies, supposedly to represent his financial interests, but then redirected funds into accounts they controlled.
The suit further claims that Daniel and Lisa used money from the Alec Bohm Foundation to cover personal expenses. In 2024, they allegedly created additional LLCs and continued the financial mismanagement following Alec's property purchase. The lawsuit suggests that costs related to this property were inflated to misappropriate funds.
When Alec requested a detailed account of his finances earlier this year, his parents reportedly sought legal counsel and later suggested billing Alec for their time managing his affairs. Now, Alec is asking the court to ensure his parents return any misused funds and to grant him full control over the LLCs. He also seeks a certified public accountant to assess the financial damages incurred over the years.
While the legal proceedings unfold, Bohm remains focused on his performance on the field, leaving the courtroom drama for another day.
