Josh Uche Stuns Fans by Joining Dolphins on One-Year Deal

Eagles' former top-rated defender Josh Uche heads to Miami Dolphins amid Philadelphia's reshuffling struggles.

Josh Uche is making a move to the Miami Dolphins for the 2026 season, leaving the Philadelphia Eagles behind. The talented pass rusher is signing a one-year deal, as confirmed by his agents via NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Uche's journey with the Eagles began last offseason when he joined to bolster their pass rush rotation. Early in the 2025 season, he was a regular on the field, making appearances in the first eight games and recording a sack along with three quarterback hits. However, his role diminished significantly after the Eagles traded for Jaelan Phillips and re-signed veteran Brandon Graham, leaving Uche sidelined for most of the season, except for a brief appearance in Week 18 when starters were rested.

Despite his limited play, Uche was regarded as a solid asset. Interestingly, Pro Football Focus rated him as the Eagles’ top defender, highlighting his potential contribution. Yet, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio opted for other options, and his strategic decisions have generally been well-regarded.

Now, as Uche departs, the Eagles find themselves in need of pass rush reinforcement. With the loss of Jaelan Phillips in free agency, Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith are the primary edge rushers left on their roster. Rumors are swirling about potential interest in players like Jonathan Greenard and Maxx Crosby, as the Eagles look to strengthen their defensive lineup.

All eyes will be on Uche as he starts his new chapter with the Dolphins. The question remains whether he will thrive in Miami or face similar challenges as he did in Philadelphia.
