The Bills walked away with a win on Sunday, but not without a few bumps and bruises-most notably to their franchise quarterback. Josh Allen tweaked his foot late in the second quarter while trying to escape pressure from the Browns’ defensive front.
He slipped just outside his own end zone, narrowly avoiding a safety, and for a moment, it looked like trouble. But Allen stayed in the game, didn’t miss a snap, and finished the day under center.
Head coach Sean McDermott addressed the injury during his Monday press conference, and the early outlook is encouraging. Allen is being listed as day-to-day, with McDermott noting that while the quarterback is sore, the expectation is that he’ll be available for Sunday’s matchup against the Eagles. Allen might miss some practice time this week, but there’s no indication right now that his availability for game day is in serious doubt.
Allen’s numbers in the win weren’t eye-popping-he went 12-of-19 for 130 yards and added 17 yards on seven carries-but his presence and poise remained steady throughout. The fact that he played through the injury without missing a single offensive snap speaks to both his toughness and importance to this Buffalo offense.
McDermott also provided updates on a few other key defensive players. Linebacker Shaq Thompson (neck), safety Jordan Poyer (hamstring), and defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (calf) are all considered day-to-day as well. It's a situation worth monitoring, especially with a physical Eagles team up next on the schedule.
Buffalo’s first official injury report of the week drops Wednesday, and that’ll give a clearer picture of where things stand. But for now, it looks like Allen and several other banged-up Bills are trending in the right direction.
