Jalen Hurts Silences Doubts After Key Moment in Eagles Win

Despite a third-quarter scare, Jalen Hurts delivered a dominant performance and quickly put any injury doubts to rest after the Eagles' blowout win over the Raiders.

The Philadelphia Eagles handled their business in Week 15, steamrolling the Las Vegas Raiders in a 31-0 shutout that looked every bit as dominant as the score suggests. But even in a game that was mostly smooth sailing, there was one moment that gave fans a scare - a third-quarter hit on Jalen Hurts that briefly raised questions about his health moving forward.

Thankfully for Philly, those concerns were short-lived.

Meeting with reporters ahead of the Eagles' Week 16 matchup, Hurts made it clear he’s good to go.

“No, I’m fine,” Hurts said, brushing off any lingering worry.

And based on the way he played before exiting the game, there’s little reason to doubt him. Hurts was sharp and efficient, completing 12 of 15 passes for 175 yards and three touchdowns.

He also added 39 yards on the ground across seven carries, with several of those runs looking like designed plays rather than last-second scrambles. It was the kind of performance that reminded everyone why he’s still one of the most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.

Hurts didn’t finish the game - but that had more to do with the scoreboard than the hit. With the Eagles comfortably in control, head coach Nick Sirianni took the opportunity to give rookie quarterback Tanner McKee some reps. It was a smart move in a blowout, and a sign the team is already thinking ahead to what could be a deep playoff run.

Now, the Eagles turn their attention to a familiar NFC East rival. They’ll head down to Landover to face the Washington Commanders, the first of two matchups between the teams over the next three weeks. Washington hasn’t exactly been a powerhouse this season, but division games have a way of getting weird - especially this late in the year.

Still, if Hurts and the Eagles can replicate the balance and control they showed against the Raiders, they’ll be in good shape. The offense looked crisp, the defense pitched a shutout, and the team played with the kind of confidence you expect from a group eyeing back-to-back division titles.

With the NFC East race heating up, every game matters - and right now, the Eagles look like a team that’s hitting its stride at the right time.
