Jalen Hurts Joins NFC Pro Bowl Team After Unusual Selection Path

Despite a rocky season and being initially snubbed, Jalen Hurts will represent the NFC in the Pro Bowl for the third straight year.

Jalen Hurts Named to NFC Pro Bowl, Capping Another Standout Season

Jalen Hurts is heading back to the Pro Bowl - his third selection in as many years - after being named to the NFC roster despite initially being listed as a fifth alternate. It’s a nod that speaks volumes about his continued impact under center, even in a season that had its share of ups and downs.

With this latest selection, Hurts joins an elite group of Eagles quarterbacks who have made multiple Pro Bowl appearances. Only Donovan McNabb, with six nods between 2000 and 2009, has more in franchise history. Hurts now sits alongside Norm Van Brocklin, Bobby Thomason, and Randall Cunningham - all of whom were selected three times during their careers in Philly.

This season, Hurts led the Eagles to an 11-5 record in his 16 starts. His numbers paint the picture of a quarterback who continues to evolve - 65% completion rate, 3,224 passing yards, 25 touchdown passes, and just six interceptions.

Four of those picks came in a single rough outing against the Chargers, but outside of that anomaly, Hurts played clean, efficient football. His 98.5 passer rating ranked eighth in the league, and he finished tied for ninth in touchdown passes while placing third in interception ratio.

On the ground, Hurts added eight rushing touchdowns, though his 421 rushing yards marked a personal low since taking over as the Eagles’ full-time starter in 2021. Even so, his dual-threat ability remains one of the most dangerous weapons in the league - particularly in the red zone.

Zooming out, Hurts’ career numbers through 82 starts are nothing short of impressive. He owns a 57-25 record - a win total that puts him in rare company. Only seven quarterbacks in NFL history have won more games in their first 82 starts, and that list includes names like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson.

And when it comes to total touchdowns? Hurts is already carving out a historic path.

With 172 combined scores (109 passing, 63 rushing), he ranks sixth all-time among quarterbacks through their first 82 starts. The only names ahead of him?

Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Dan Marino, and Andrew Luck. That’s the kind of company that tells you everything you need to know about where Hurts stands in today’s NFL.

Hurts is one of six Eagles heading to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, joining Cam Jurgens, Cooper DeJean, Quinyon Mitchell, Zack Baun, and Jalen Carter. The event is set to take place at the Moscone Center convention hall in San Francisco on Tuesday.

For Hurts, this latest honor is another milestone in a career that’s still very much on the rise. He may have started this Pro Bowl cycle as an alternate, but he’s finishing it right where he belongs - among the best in the game.
