Howie Roseman has built a reputation in Philadelphia for staying active, and nothing he said this week suggests that mindset is changing anytime soon.
The Eagles general manager has spent plenty of time moving pieces around. Last year alone, he worked the market in the preseason by bringing in Sam Howell, John Metchie, Jakorian Bennett, and Fred Johnson, then kept dealing during the regular season with additions such as Tank Bigsby, Jaelan Phillips, Jaire Alexander, and Michael Carter II.
That activity carried into this offseason too, when the Eagles traded away Sydney Brown and A.J. Brown and added Andy Dalton, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jonathan Greenard through trades.
So when Roseman spoke with Kay Adams of "Up & Adams," he made it clear he still views the trade market as part of the job.
"Well, I think that you're constantly looking, you're constantly looking to improve. We can't ask our players to do it, we can't ask our coaches to continue to do it, and not do it from a front office perspective.
So, if opportunities come about that will make us better, we got to look at it. We owe that to our team, to our players, to our fans, to our owner.
And there will be an opportunity at some point, whether it's looking at cuts, whether it's looking at trades. And that's fun.
It's fun to do those and to have those calls. And so I would never answer the phone if you- that's not cool.
But whatever, whatever we have now, something's going to change. And in all our best teams, there have been some opportunities to acquire players, whether it's in June, whether it's in August, whether it's at the trade deadline.
And so we'll keep looking for those opportunities, and if they come about, it's no reflection on what we feel about the other guys here. It's just trying to improve."
That leaves the door open for more movement before the season begins, and it has people wondering whether Roseman has one more deal - or maybe two - waiting to happen.
At one point in training camp, the call was for Philadelphia to go get another offensive playmaker. That pressure has eased some, though, because the offense has been playing well enough that the need for another weapon is not as urgent right now.
Another spot that drew plenty of offseason attention was safety, especially the question of whether Roseman would search outside the building for Reed Blankenship's replacement. For now, Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II have put together strong enough camps that the Eagles could ride with one of them as the starter.
Roseman has four weeks to make his next move, and whatever direction he chooses should have an immediate impact on the Eagles, either in the starting lineup or on the bench.

With Jonathan Greenard sidelined early in camp, the Eagles have been forced to shuffle the edge-rusher rotation and see who can make the most of the extra snaps. That has opened the door for free agent Arnold Ebiketie, along with Jalyx Hunt and A.J. Epenesa, to get a longer look in Vic Fangios defense, and the early returns have at least given the coaching staff something to monitor beyond the obvious concerns about depth.
Fangio has already pointed to Ebiketie as a player trending in the right direction, and that matters for a unit that is still waiting on Greenards debut. The more comfortable Ebiketie becomes in the scheme, the more interesting this camp battle gets, because the Eagles could end up finding a useful piece in a spot where they needed someone to step forward fast. Training camp always has a way of turning a depth chart into a daily referendum, and that has been the case on the Eagles edge this summer. Nolan Smith Jr., a former first-round pick, has put together a solid camp, but it has not matched the kind of surge Jalyx Hunt has put together as the competition for the starting edge rusher job has tightened.
For Smith, the pressure is real because the Eagles still clearly value him enough to keep him around beyond this season.
