Gerald McCoy isn’t sounding the alarm on the Eagles just yet, even with the noise around Philadelphia getting louder by the week.
After a narrow Week 2 escape against the Tennessee Titans, a lopsided Week 3 loss to the Case Keenum-led Chicago Bears and then a messy home collapse against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the Eagles have given fans plenty to gripe about. The roster is beat up, the execution has been shaky and the coaching staff is taking heat. McCoy, though, sees a team that has lived through this kind of turbulence before.
“They've been here before,” McCoy told “The Dan Patrick Show” on Monday. “They've got a lot of injuries and that's just always been their thing.
I don't like the scheme they went with. Jalen Hurts has had most of his success in the shotgun.. what best suits him is not being under center and getting the play action going and turning your back to the defense.
He needs to be able to see everything from the jump.
“If you want to {play under center}, you have to have an offensive line that can hold up… and then all of your weapons started going down.”
That injury pileup has been a major part of the problem. Philadelphia was already without DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert against the Rams, then lost Saquon Barkley to a hamstring injury. The offensive line has also been banged up and hasn’t played anywhere near its usual level, while new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion is still trying to find his footing.
Fans have pointed plenty of blame toward Nick Sirianni, but McCoy believes the coach has earned the benefit of the doubt because he has shown he can adapt.

“They have a coach who knows how to adapt and adjust,” the former First-Team All-Pro defensive tackle said. “They're going to have to figure something out and simplify things, but I wouldn't panic just yet in Philly, simply because they've been here before.”
The Eagles have spent the last five years drawing scrutiny and still came away with a Super Bowl, another trip to the big game and three divisional titles. That doesn’t erase the complaints about the offense or the uneven start, but it does explain why some people around the league are reluctant to hit the panic button after three weeks of sloppiness.
Philadelphia is still in a tricky spot, and nobody is pretending everything is fine. But at 2-2, the Eagles have a chance to steady things quickly when they face a Jacksonville Jaguars team that is 3-1 and has looked strong through four games.

Eagles Backfield Trouble Just Forced A Telling Move Before London
With Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby both dealing with injuries, the Eagles had little choice but to add another body to the backfield before heading to London. The team is elevating Dameon Pierce to the 53-man roster, a practical move that speaks to how thin the running back room has become as Philadelphia tries to stay on schedule heading into an overseas game.
Pierce brings a familiar profile as a former Texans runner who has flashed enough to be viewed as a useful depth option. For the Eagles, the question now is less about upside than availability, because the next stretch will test how much of the offense can be carried without two of its expected contributors in the backfield. Eagles Rainy Loss Sparked A Viral Moment Fans Didn't See
Rainy Sundays in Philadelphia can make even a routine sideline assignment feel like a test of endurance, and Erin Andrews gave fans a glimpse of just how messy it got during the Eagles-Rams game. The longtime broadcaster posted behind-the-scenes photos and video on Instagram showing her preparing to work through the wet conditions, offering a look at the kind of cleanup and constant adjustment that comes with covering an NFL game in a downpour.
The weather added another layer to a game that already turned sharply against Philadelphia, as the Rams rallied for a 24-20 win. Kyren Williams helped fuel the comeback, while Andrews post ended up becoming one of those viral reminders that the broadcast booth and sideline have their own battle when the rain starts falling. Eagles May Need O-Line Help More Than The Trade Market Can Offer
The offensive line market has become one of the leagues quiet pressure points, and Philadelphia is right in the middle of it. With injuries and retirements thinning out depth across the NFL, the Eagles join teams like the Packers, Patriots and Ravens as clubs that could be looking for help, even if the trade buzz around that need has not really started to build yet.
ESPNs Dan Graziano pointed to that group as possible participants if the market ever opens up, but the problem is obvious: good linemen are hard to find and even harder to pry loose. For the Eagles, the bigger issue may be whether the help they need is even available in a market where demand is already outpacing supply. [Read more 🡒]
