Eagles Trade Deadline Reality Just Got Hard To Ignore

As the Philadelphia Eagles face a challenging season, key players could be on the move ahead of the trade deadline, offering a glimpse into the team's strategic pivot.

The Eagles’ slide has pushed them into seller territory, and with the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaching, the names worth watching are starting to come into focus.

Philadelphia dropped its fifth straight game Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, and while the Eagles at 2-5 are still technically alive in the NFC East, this no longer looks like a team built for a real run. That’s why the expectation around the league is that GM Howie Roseman will be looking to move pieces rather than add them.

There has already been plenty of chatter about bigger names like Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun and Landon Dickerson, all of whom are under contract beyond this season. But the more realistic path is dealing players on expiring contracts who aren’t clearly part of the long-term plan and could bring back 2027 draft capital.

One of the most logical trade chips is DT Moro Ojomo. Of the Eagles’ expiring-contract players, he carries the most value.

Ojomo’s 2025 breakout had him trending toward a strong free-agent market after the season, though things haven’t gone perfectly this year. Even so, he remains an ultra-disruptive interior pass-rusher who could help a contender right away.

The Eagles may not have the money to extend him after signing Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, which makes the idea of turning him into a third-round pick now more appealing than waiting for a 2028 compensatory pick.

CB Riq Woolen is another player who fits the deadline logic, even after Monday night didn’t do him any favors. He was targeted and beaten by Dak Prescott and his pass catchers, another reminder of the volatility that kept him from landing a multi-year deal in free agency. Still, a team looking for help at corner - the Bills, Panthers and Lions are examples mentioned in the source - could still view him as an upgrade and be willing to part with a fourth- or fifth-rounder.

TE Dallas Goedert also belongs on the list. He’s been a fixture in Philadelphia for close to a decade, but the last two seasons had already pointed toward an endgame with the Eagles before the team kept bringing him back on one-year deals.

With rookie Eli Stowers waiting behind him, it feels unlikely the Eagles would go down that road again in 2027. Goedert remains a valuable piece, too - he’s a Super Bowl-winning tight end who scored 11 touchdowns last year - and that should be enough to draw interest for something like a fifth-round pick.

WR Hollywood Brown is another name to monitor after NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that he could be traded soon. That report came after Brown was a healthy scratch against the Panthers, and his fit in Philadelphia has clearly gone nowhere.

He has been a non-factor since signing a one-year deal that included $5 million guaranteed, though he did catch a couple passes against the Cowboys. If the Eagles can get even a conditional seventh-rounder back, that would be worth taking.

Then there’s CB Kelee Ringo, a player the Eagles may be willing to move for almost any draft capital at all. The 2023 fourth-round pick has not been playable on defense, but another team could still bet on the upside.

His real value right now comes on special teams, where he’s described as a Pro Bowl-caliber gunner. Even a seventh-round pick would be enough for a contender to consider.

Eagles Loss Exposed A Defensive Line Problem Fans Will Notice

The snap counts from the Eagles Week 7 loss to the Cowboys offered a clear look at how much the defensive front was asked to carry, and how little splash came from that workload. With injuries still shaping the rotation, Philadelphia leaned heavily on its interior linemen and mixed in some role changes across the defense, while rookies and returning players added to the churn in personnel.

Jalen Carters usage stood out in particular, as he was on the field far more than usual but did not turn that volume into the disruptive night the Eagles needed. Jordan Davis was also pushed into a bigger share of the action, and the numbers pointed to a front line that was busy without being especially effective, which only deepens the concern as the defense tries to sort out who can consistently tilt a game in the middle. Cowboys Took One Extra Shot At The Eagles After That Win

Dallas left Lincoln Financial Field with more than a win in Week 7, and the postgame mood said plenty about how the Cowboys viewed it. After snapping a two-game losing streak with a 38-21 victory over the Eagles, the visitors carried that momentum back to the locker room and into a celebration that made the rivalry feel even sharper.

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer pointed to the teams positive energy after the game, while also stressing the need to keep the focus on Arizona next. For Philadelphia, the result already stung on the field, but the added swipe afterward only gave the loss a little more edge heading into the next round of NFC East business. [Read more 🡒]

Eagles Suddenly Face Questions No Defending Division Champ Should

In the span of a month, the Eagles have gone from defending division champ to a team scrambling for answers after five straight losses, their worst skid in a decade. Injuries have played a part, but the problems have gone beyond missing bodies, with the defense unable to steady things while the season has slipped further from the pace in the NFC East.

The latest setback only sharpened the concern around a team that has looked out of sync on both sides of the ball. What makes the slide harder to ignore is the pattern underneath it, as the Eagles have been giving up big chunks of yardage in every loss and have yet to find a way to stop the bleeding before the schedule tightens even more.
