Eagles Still Hunting for Pass Rusher After Hendrickson Signs Elsewhere

Eagles eye Jonathan Greenard as a cost-effective pass-rushing solution after missing out on Trey Hendrickson.

The Eagles were in the mix for Trey Hendrickson before he inked a four-year, $112 million deal with the Ravens, leaving Philadelphia still on the hunt for a pass-rush boost. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Hendrickson had several suitors, including the Colts, Bills, Bucs, Commanders, and Eagles.

The Eagles have also shown interest in Vikings edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. With Minnesota fielding calls, Greenard could be a more budget-friendly option compared to Maxx Crosby or Hendrickson.

At 28, Greenard stands out as one of the Vikings' defensive cornerstones. He's in the midst of a four-year, $76 million contract signed back in 2024.

The Vikings are currently over the salary cap by just under $1.5 million, and with the March 11 deadline looming, they might be looking to make some financial maneuvers. Greenard's cap hit is $22.3 million, with $19 million due in 2026, though none of that is fully guaranteed.

If he's still on the roster by the fifth day of the new league year, $4 million of his base salary becomes guaranteed.

Trading Greenard could free up about $12 million in cap space for the Vikings.

Originally drafted by the Texans, Greenard made a splash with 12.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl nod in 2024. However, last season was a struggle due to a shoulder injury that required surgery, limiting him to just three sacks in 12 games. Despite this, his pressure rate was an impressive 13.5%, ranking him seventh in the NFL.
