Eagles Star Dallas Goedert Signals Hes Not Done With Philly Yet

Despite an uncertain future in Philadelphia, veteran tight end Dallas Goedert isnt closing the door on a potential return to the Eagles.

Dallas Goedert might be heading into free agency, but don’t be so quick to pencil him out of Philadelphia just yet.

The veteran tight end, one of the Eagles’ top four free agents this offseason, was widely expected to move on after taking a pay cut last year in hopes of securing a long-term extension that never came. But according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, there’s still a real possibility the two sides find common ground.

“I know Dallas would like to come back, all things equal,” Garafolo said during an appearance on The Anthony Gargano Show.

That line says a lot. Goedert clearly still sees himself in midnight green - and if the Eagles can make the numbers work, there’s a path forward.

It’s a position of need for Philadelphia, too. As of now, they’ve only got one tight end under contract for 2026, meaning GM Howie Roseman is going to have to address the room either in free agency, the draft, or both.

Bringing back a proven veteran like Goedert on a short-term deal while grooming a younger option could be a smart bridge strategy.

And let’s be clear - Goedert can still play.

At 31, he’s not the same young prospect who entered the league in 2018, but he remains an above-average starter. In 2025, he hauled in 60 catches for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns - a stat line that jumps off the page, especially when you factor in his red-zone efficiency.

Few tight ends in the league are as reliable near the goal line. He’s a big target with soft hands and a knack for shielding defenders to create space.

That kind of production, especially at a projected $6 million per year, is a bargain in today’s market.

The big question with Goedert has always been health. He’s missed 23 games over his career with a variety of injuries, and durability concerns are part of the equation for any team considering signing him. But when he’s on the field, he’s a difference-maker - plain and simple.

So while the Eagles might be looking toward the future at tight end, don’t rule out one more chapter with No. 88.

If the price is right, and the fit still makes sense, a short-term reunion could benefit both sides. And for a team that still has playoff aspirations, keeping a proven red-zone weapon in the mix might be more than just a luxury - it could be a necessity.
