Her departure from SportsRadio 94WIP comes amidst layoffs by Audacy, the station’s parent company. Kaney, who joined WIP in 2022, quickly became a fan favorite with her engaging style and deep knowledge of the game.
Reflecting on her time at WIP, Kaney shared, “I had a blast working at WIP and sincerely enjoyed my time there. But as the old saying goes, when one door closes, another opens.” Her presence on the morning show with Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie added a dynamic layer to the broadcast, and she seamlessly transitioned into the Eagles' sideline reporter role for the 2024 season after Howard Eskin's departure.
But don't worry, Philadelphia sports fans-Kaney isn't leaving the scene entirely. She’ll continue to bring her passion and expertise to FOX 29 Philadelphia as a weekend sports anchor and reporter, a position she’s held since 2023. Hailing from Radnor, Pennsylvania, Kaney has built a strong connection with the local sports community.
Before making her mark at WIP, Kaney covered college and pro lacrosse for major networks like ESPN, TSN, and NBC Sports, showcasing her versatility and depth as a sports journalist.
Kaney's exit coincides with broader shifts in Philadelphia's sports media landscape. NBC Sports Philadelphia is also undergoing changes, having recently parted ways with Taryn Hatcher, who covered the Phillies and 76ers since 2018 and later became the Flyers’ rinkside reporter. NBCSP is looking to reinvent its storytelling approach and engage a wider audience, according to executive Alexandra Matcham.
