Eagles Lose Another Top OC Target in Frustrating Coaching Search

With another top choice off the board, the Eagles' search for an offensive coordinator is starting to look increasingly desperate.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ search for a new offensive coordinator just hit another snag - and it’s becoming a pattern that’s hard to ignore.

Zac Robinson, a name that had been firmly on the Eagles’ radar, is heading to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are set to hire the former Falcons offensive coordinator to fill the same role on their staff, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Robinson had already interviewed with Philadelphia and was widely considered a top-tier candidate - maybe not the top name, but certainly someone who made sense schematically and brought upside.

Robinson's appeal wasn’t hard to see. Over the past two seasons in Atlanta, he helped craft a ground-heavy attack that, while not always flashy, was effective.

That’s exactly the kind of identity the Eagles could use right now, especially with Saquon Barkley in need of a scheme that plays to his strengths. Philadelphia’s run game sputtered in 2025, and whoever steps into the OC role will be tasked with reigniting that part of the offense.

But with Robinson now off the board, the Eagles are watching their list of top candidates shrink fast. Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll, two other names that had been floated as long-shot targets, are no longer in play either. That leaves Philadelphia in a tough spot - not out of options, but certainly needing to pivot.

One name that keeps coming up - and loudly - is Kliff Kingsbury. The former Cardinals head coach and most recently the Commanders’ offensive coordinator has a history with the Eagles.

He was a finalist for the OC job back in 2024 before Kellen Moore landed the gig. Kingsbury ultimately took the Washington job, but with that chapter now closed, the door could be open again in Philly.

Kingsbury’s air-raid background and quarterback-friendly schemes would be intriguing in this offense, especially considering the talent the Eagles have at wide receiver and in the backfield. He’s a name that brings both experience and innovation, and he’s already familiar with the organization’s expectations.

But he’s not the only candidate worth watching. Mike Kafka, the former Giants OC and interim head coach, is another potential fit.

Kafka has ties to the Eagles - he played quarterback in Philly and has worked with Barkley during their time in New York. That familiarity could be valuable as the Eagles look to retool their offense without starting from scratch.

Then there’s Jim Bob Cooter, currently the offensive coordinator in Indianapolis. He’s no stranger to the Eagles’ system either, having served as a consultant to Nick Sirianni during Sirianni’s first year as head coach. That connection could matter, especially at a time when continuity and trust are at a premium.

The Eagles are clearly being deliberate, but the clock is ticking. With the coaching carousel spinning fast and top candidates getting scooped up, Philadelphia needs to move quickly - and smartly - to find the right voice to lead the offense. Whoever they land will inherit a roster with plenty of talent, but also a lot of pressure to get things back on track.

Right now, the Eagles' OC search feels less like a sprint and more like a scramble. But there's still time to make the right call - if they can find the right fit before the music stops.
