The Philadelphia Eagles are once again in the market for an offensive coordinator-again being the key word. After moving on from Kevin Patullo at the end of the 2025 season, the Eagles are now hunting for their sixth OC in seven years. That kind of turnover doesn’t just raise eyebrows-it raises questions about consistency, development, and long-term offensive identity.
With Bobby Slowik officially off the board-he was promoted to offensive coordinator by the Miami Dolphins-attention is shifting to the next wave of candidates. And former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho wasted no time throwing out two intriguing names: Brian Daboll and Joe Brady.
Acho, who’s never been shy with his takes, made his pitch on social media shortly after the Slowik news dropped. “Eagles are going to want to find a way to make Brian Daboll or Joe Brady happen,” he posted.
“But y’all know my dark horse.” That’s a strong endorsement for two coaches with very different, but equally compelling, resumes.
Let’s start with Daboll. He’s no stranger to the NFC East, having served as the New York Giants’ head coach from 2022 until his firing in November 2025.
Before that, he built a reputation as one of the league’s top offensive minds during his time as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator under Sean McDermott. Those were the years when Josh Allen made the leap from raw talent to MVP-caliber quarterback, and Daboll was right in the middle of that transformation.
Now, with the Giants chapter closed, Daboll is back on the market-and in demand. He’s already interviewed for multiple head coaching jobs this offseason, including with the Bills, who just fired McDermott earlier this week. Whether he lands another top job or takes a step back into a coordinator role remains to be seen, but his experience and pedigree make him a top-tier option.
Then there’s Joe Brady, who’s quietly built a strong case of his own. Brady stepped into the Bills’ offensive coordinator job in 2023, initially as an interim replacement after McDermott let go of Ken Dorsey.
The Bills liked what they saw and made the move permanent the following offseason. Over the past two seasons, Brady has helped steady the ship in Buffalo, guiding an offense that’s remained productive and versatile.
But with McDermott now out, Brady’s future in Buffalo is anything but certain. He’s been mentioned in head coaching conversations, though most of the buzz around him this offseason has centered on offensive coordinator roles. That makes him a very real possibility for teams like the Eagles, who are looking for someone to bring stability and creativity to their offense.
The Eagles’ situation is unique. They’ve got talent-plenty of it-but they’ve struggled to find the right voice to lead the offense.
With Jalen Hurts under center and a roster built to contend, this next hire isn’t just about X’s and O’s. It’s about vision, leadership, and the ability to build something sustainable.
Daboll and Brady both check a lot of boxes. Daboll brings head coaching experience and a proven track record of quarterback development. Brady, meanwhile, offers a fresh perspective and a modern offensive approach that’s resonated with players and front offices alike.
The Eagles need to get this one right. After years of turnover at the coordinator spot, they can’t afford another short-term fix. Whether it’s Daboll, Brady, or someone else entirely, the next OC has to be someone who can not only scheme up points, but also help shape the long-term identity of this offense.
The clock’s ticking in Philly. And with big names like Daboll and Brady in play, the stakes just got a little higher.
