Eagles Just Made A Shocking Offensive Line Move Fans Didn't See Coming

The Eagles make a strategic move for the future by trading Cam Jurgens to the Ravens, gaining valuable draft capital in return.

The Eagles’ offensive line took another jolt on the second day in a row, and this one was hard to see coming: Philadelphia is trading center Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens for multiple draft picks.

According to the full terms first reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Eagles will receive a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. Baltimore gets Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Coming off a rough 2025 season in which he still somehow made the Pro Bowl, Jurgens was supposed to get a chance to rebound in 2026. He and fellow starting offensive lineman Landon Dickerson even took an offseason trip to Medellín, Colombia for stem cell therapy.

Jurgens opened the season at center, but once Dickerson struggled badly and landed on injured reserve after Week 1, the Eagles shifted Jurgens to left guard. That move went about as well as expected for a player in a brand-new spot, and there were already calls for Philadelphia to bench him in favor of Willie Lampkin.

Jurgens had been expected to miss Week 5 after self-reporting a concussion, but the surprise wasn’t the injury news. It was the fact that he’s no longer on the roster at all.

The move looks like a clear example of Howie Roseman cashing in while there was still value to be had. The Ravens were in obvious need of center help after losing Tyler Linderbaum in free agency and then watching their next three replacement options get hurt. Philadelphia took advantage and landed a strong return for a player whose future outlook had become shaky.

Still, it’s a jarring end to Jurgens’ run in Philadelphia. He was drafted to follow Jason Kelce, and for a while it looked like he could anchor the line for years. His Eagles tenure should be remembered for gutting through a back injury in an NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders and for being part of the Super Bowl LIX title team in the 2024 season.

With Jurgens gone and Lane Johnson retired, the Eagles’ offensive line suddenly looks very unsettled. That is not ideal in the short term.

But the trade also makes the long view obvious. Roseman is thinking ahead, and while this doesn’t read like a full surrender on 2026, it does feel like the Eagles are bracing for the possibility that the year could go sideways.

One immediate benefit: Philadelphia is now lined up to have four picks in the first two rounds of the 2028 NFL Draft - its own first-rounder, the New England Patriots’ first-round pick acquired in the A.J. Brown trade, its own second-rounder, and the Ravens’ second-round pick.

Eagles Backfield Trouble Just Forced A Telling Move Before London

With Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby both dealing with injuries, the Eagles had little choice but to add another body to the backfield before heading to London. The team is elevating Dameon Pierce to the 53-man roster, a practical move that speaks to how thin the running back room has become as Philadelphia tries to stay on schedule heading into an overseas game.

Pierce brings a familiar profile as a former Texans runner who has flashed enough to be viewed as a useful depth option. For the Eagles, the question now is less about upside than availability, because the next stretch will test how much of the offense can be carried without two of its expected contributors in the backfield. Eagles Rainy Loss Sparked A Viral Moment Fans Didn't See

Rainy Sundays in Philadelphia can make even a routine sideline assignment feel like a test of endurance, and Erin Andrews gave fans a glimpse of just how messy it got during the Eagles-Rams game. The longtime broadcaster posted behind-the-scenes photos and video on Instagram showing her preparing to work through the wet conditions, offering a look at the kind of cleanup and constant adjustment that comes with covering an NFL game in a downpour.

The weather added another layer to a game that already turned sharply against Philadelphia, as the Rams rallied for a 24-20 win. Kyren Williams helped fuel the comeback, while Andrews post ended up becoming one of those viral reminders that the broadcast booth and sideline have their own battle when the rain starts falling. Eagles May Need O-Line Help More Than The Trade Market Can Offer

The offensive line market has become one of the leagues quiet pressure points, and Philadelphia is right in the middle of it. With injuries and retirements thinning out depth across the NFL, the Eagles join teams like the Packers, Patriots and Ravens as clubs that could be looking for help, even if the trade buzz around that need has not really started to build yet.

ESPNs Dan Graziano pointed to that group as possible participants if the market ever opens up, but the problem is obvious: good linemen are hard to find and even harder to pry loose. For the Eagles, the bigger issue may be whether the help they need is even available in a market where demand is already outpacing supply. [Read more 🡒]
