The Eagles are already deep into the kind of injury mess that can wreck a season before it really gets going. Four weeks in, Philadelphia has been forced to play through a brutal pileup of absences, and the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams only made things worse. By the end of that 24-20 defeat, the Eagles were down to fewer than nine starters on the field, with seven players already ruled out before kickoff and four more leaving injured during the game.
Now the focus shifts to Week 5 in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the list of concerns is long.
Landon Dickerson is still on IR after the knee issue that flared up in the Eagles’ Week 1 win over the Washington Commanders. He has at least one more game to sit before he is eligible to return, and even that timeline sounds optimistic.
Zack Baun missed the Rams game because the short week didn’t give him enough time to practice or clear concussion protocol. The hope is that he gets through it this week and is back for Jacksonville.
DeVonta Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out for the first time this season after he did not practice last week. Reports point to a multi-week absence, so a return against the Jaguars looks unlikely. Week 6 or 7 is the more realistic window.
The Eagles also remain thin on the offensive line. Fred Johnson sat out against the Rams with a knee injury, and his status for Week 5 is still unclear. That matters even more now that Lane Johnson has his own new concerns.
On the receiver front, Hollywood Brown missed a second straight game because of an ankle injury that has kept him from practicing or playing. He is not on IR, which at least leaves the door open for a return in Week 5 or 6.
Marcus Epps was a late addition to the injury report with a groin issue and did not play against the Rams. His Week 5 status will need another update over the next few days.
Dallas Goedert has now missed two games with a knee injury and hasn’t practiced in the last two weeks. He was originally expected to miss three to four weeks, so a Jaguars return may come a little too soon. He still looks closer to a game or two away.
Saquon Barkley is also dealing with a hamstring injury, his second issue of the season after the stinger he had in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. He couldn’t make it back against the Rams, even though he hoped to fight through it, and the hamstring problem adds another layer of caution.
On defense, Quinyon Mitchell left in the second half with a knee injury and did not return, with Jonathan Jones taking over. The Eagles will need to wait a few days for a better read on that one, but it’s a hit either way.
Jonathan Greenard also went down in the second half, leaving with an ankle injury. It’s his second injury of the year after he missed all of training camp and the first two games with a pectoral injury, and there is no timetable for his return right now.
Tank Bigsby suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter and did not come back. There is hope he can play against the Jaguars, but his availability is still unknown.
Then there’s Lane Johnson, who was ruled out at the last second for personal reasons. He also missed time in training camp for a personal issue, and his status is completely unsettled as retirement rumors continue to swirl. The next question is whether he even travels with the team to London.

Eagles Suddenly Have A London Availability Problem Fans Need To Watch
The Eagles are heading into their London trip for Week 5 with more uncertainty than anyone in Philadelphia would like this early in the season. Multiple key starters are already on injured reserve, and several more have carried questionable tags as the team gets ready for Jacksonville, leaving the roster picture in flux at a point where the margin for error is already thin.
Landon Dickerson, Zack Baun and DeVonta Smith are among the names the team is monitoring most closely, and their availability could shape how the Eagles handle a game that comes with the added challenge of overseas travel. For a team trying to settle in and keep its season moving forward, the health report may end up mattering as much as the matchup itself. [Read more 🡒]
Rex Ryan Just Poured Fuel On A Brutal Eagles Debate
Rex Ryan added another layer to the conversation around Philadelphias offense after the loss to the Rams, going straight at the Eagles offensive line and calling it abysmal. The criticism landed because it came after a night when the group struggled to protect the quarterback, with pressure showing up repeatedly and injuries thinning out a unit that already had little margin for error without Lane Johnson on the field.
Jordan Mailata, though, isnt sounding the alarm in the same way. The veteran tackle said he believes the group can get better as the season goes on, which is the part of this debate that matters most for the Eagles: whether the lines rough start is just early-season turbulence or the first sign of a longer problem up front. Nick Foles Just Reopened A Tough Jalen Hurts Debate
Nick Foles critique of Jalen Hurts after the Eagles Week 4 loss to the Rams landed because it went straight to the part of Hurts game that has always invited scrutiny: how quickly he sees it and how decisively he lets it go. Philadelphias offense has been built around Hurts ability to extend plays and create with his legs, but in a game where the passing rhythm never really settled, Foles pointed to timing and pocket poise as the issue, saying Hurts appeared to freeze rather than trust the throw.
Hurts line against Los Angeles was uneven enough to keep the conversation alive, even with two touchdown passes and no interceptions. After the game, he didnt try to swat away the broader concern, instead framing it as part of the teams ongoing work and development. For the Eagles, that leaves the same familiar question hanging in the background: whether Hurts can keep growing into a more complete passer without losing the parts of his game that make the offense go.
