Eagles Hire Former Bucs Coach for Key Offensive Role

The Eagles are turning the page on their aerial attack with a bold new hire who brings a fresh offensive vision-and hopefully leaves outdated play calls behind.

The Philadelphia Eagles are retooling their offensive brain trust, and the latest addition brings a fresh, young mind with a track record of developing passing games. According to multiple sources, the Eagles are hiring former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard as their new pass game coordinator. He’ll team up with recently named offensive coordinator Sean Mannion to steer the direction of Philly’s offense heading into 2026.

Let’s unpack what this means.

First off, this is the role previously held by Kevin Patullo. If he stays with the organization, it won’t be in this capacity.

Parks Frazier handled the job this past season, so his future with the staff remains up in the air. But the spotlight now shifts to Grizzard, who brings a compelling mix of youth, intelligence, and experience to the table.

At 35, Grizzard is just a year older than Mannion, but he’s logged more time in the NFL coaching ranks. A former wide receiver at Yale, Grizzard’s football IQ has been evident since his early coaching days.

He cut his teeth at Duke as a graduate assistant and quality control coach before making the leap to the NFL with the Dolphins in 2017. Over six seasons in Miami, he worked in quality control and coached wide receivers - a stretch that helped him build a reputation as a sharp offensive mind.

In 2024, Grizzard took on the role of pass game coordinator in Tampa Bay under Liam Coen, and that’s when things really started to click. That Buccaneers offense had juice - Baker Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, spreading the ball around to a talented group that included Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and tight end Cade Otton.

The backs were active in the passing game too, adding another layer to the attack. Grizzard’s fingerprints were all over that success.

He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2025, but injuries across the roster made it tough to get a clean read on what that unit could’ve been. Still, the upside he showed as a pass game designer remains clear.

Now, he and Mannion - both relatively fresh faces in the coaching world - will be tasked with revitalizing an Eagles offense that, at times last season, struggled to find rhythm and consistency. The hope is that this duo can inject some new life into the scheme, blending Mannion’s quarterback perspective with Grizzard’s passing game chops.

It’s a bold move, but it’s also the kind of forward-thinking hire that could pay off big if these two click. The Eagles are betting on upside, innovation, and the energy that comes with youth. Now it’s about turning that into production on the field.
