Jonathan Greenard is trending toward a long-awaited Eagles debut, and for the first time since returning to practice before the opener, he showed up as a full participant.
The $98 million offseason addition is listed as questionable for Monday night’s game against the Bears in Chicago after being ruled out the previous two weeks. Greenard’s pectoral injury kept him out of all of training camp as well as the Commanders and Titans games, so just getting to questionable is a step forward.
Greenard’s résumé is no mystery. He put up 12-sack seasons in both 2023 and 2024, and the Eagles have been waiting to get that version of him on the field.
“He's had a good week,” Nick Sirianni said before practice Saturday. “It's exciting to have him out there.
We'll see where we are at the end of today. I feel like he's had a good week.
He brings good energy. I've really enjoyed … I mean, I've hated that he hasn't been able to go in for him and for our team, but I've really enjoyed being around him on the sideline and what he's like on a game day.
“He’s got a lot of knowledge, and he's really good with his teammates, and that's been very noticeable to me, and I'm excited when it's the time to get him back out there. He's worked his butt off to be able to get back out there as soon as possible.
I'm excited to have that leadership that I've seen him show when not playing. Excited about him, and he's had a good week, though.”
DeVonta Smith also came through the week in good shape. The Eagles’ leading receiver missed practice Thursday with a hamstring issue and was limited Friday, but he was a full participant Saturday and carries no injury status into Monday night.
The injury report also ruled out Dallas Goedert (knee), Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Fred Johnson (knee). With Johnson unavailable, rookie Markel Bell is set to back up both tackle spots.
On the positive side, Saquon Barkley (stinger), Tank Bigsby (abdomen), Jalen Carter (wrist), Drew Mukuba (knee) and Tyler Steen (shoulder) were all full participants and listed with no injury designations.
