Dallas Goedert’s name is still doing real work in Philadelphia, even if one ranking says otherwise.
After sticking around for a second straight season in midnight green, Goedert put together a strong 2025 campaign for the Eagles. He finished with career highs in catches, hauling in 60, and touchdowns, scoring 11 times while adding 591 receiving yards.
That touchdown total also set a franchise record for tight ends in a season, a clear reminder that he still has plenty left in the tank. It was enough to earn him a one-year deal to remain in Philly this offseason.
Still, Pro Football Focus writers Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick didn’t exactly hand him a flattering spot when they ranked the league’s best tight ends entering 2026. They placed Goedert 17th.
“Goedert found pay dirt as much as any tight end in the NFL this past season. His 11 receiving touchdowns were tied with Trey McBride for the most in the league. Goedert’s 4,342 receiving yards over the past seven years are also fifth in the NFL.”
That ranking feels low for a player who just proved he can still be a major factor. Last season, Goedert did plenty of damage near the goal line, with several of his touchdowns coming from five yards or less. But he also gave Jalen Hurts a dependable target on seam routes, the kind of connection that keeps an offense moving when the windows get tight.
The 2026 season could go a couple of different ways for Goedert. He might thrive with a bigger role, or he could get squeezed by the amount of talent around him. Philadelphia added three key new receivers and also drafted Eli Stowers in the second round as Goedert’s eventual replacement.
Stowers had a quiet OTAs, which could help Goedert hold onto his place in the offense for now. The Eagles are expected to use more 12-personnel with two tight ends, and Hurts trusts Goedert more than most pass catchers outside of DeVonta Smith. That should keep the tight end involved.
Goedert may not be the same player he was a few years ago, but he still looks like one of the better tight ends in the league. He can run routes, catch the ball cleanly, and handle himself as a blocker. And heading into 2026, he still looks like one of the top pieces in Philadelphia - even if PFF didn’t treat him like it.
