Super Bowl 60 Is Set: Patriots vs. Seahawks, with a Strong Philly Connection
Super Bowl 60 is officially locked in, and we’ve got a throwback-style matchup on our hands: the New England Patriots taking on the Seattle Seahawks. Two franchises with plenty of postseason pedigree, now set to clash on the NFL’s biggest stage. But if you're an Eagles fan still nursing the sting of a playoff exit, here’s a silver lining-there’s a surprising amount of green in this Super Bowl, and we’re not talking about uniforms.
Five former Eagles will suit up in this year’s title game, and each one has taken a very different path to get here. Let’s take a closer look at the Philly connections heading to Las Vegas.
Josh Jobe, CB - Seattle Seahawks
Jobe is one of those under-the-radar success stories that front offices love. Undrafted out of Alabama in 2022, he was scooped up by the Eagles-fitting, considering Howie Roseman’s well-documented affinity for Bama talent.
Jobe stuck around for two seasons in Philly, carving out a role mostly on special teams and as a depth corner. In 28 games, he tallied 23 tackles, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
Now, he’s part of a Seahawks secondary that’s peaking at the right time.
Brady Russell, FB - Seattle Seahawks
Russell’s time in Philly was brief, but it was where his NFL journey began. After going undrafted in 2023, he landed on the Eagles’ practice squad.
A few weeks into the season, Seattle came calling, signing him away-and he’s been a fixture in their offense ever since. Russell’s not a stat-sheet stuffer, but he’s one of those glue guys who does the dirty work, especially in run blocking and short-yardage packages.
He’s earned his way onto the Super Bowl stage the hard way.
Christian Elliss, LB - New England Patriots
Elliss had a winding road in Philadelphia, with multiple stints on the roster starting in 2021. But when he was on the field, he made his presence felt.
In 19 games with the Eagles, Elliss logged 35 tackles and two tackles for loss, showing flashes of the sideline-to-sideline speed and physicality that made him a fan favorite. Now, he’s a full-time starter in New England and playing the best football of his career.
This isn’t his first trip to the Super Bowl-he was part of the Eagles’ 2022 squad that fell just short-but this time, he’s got a bigger role and another shot at a ring.
Mack Hollins, WR - New England Patriots
If you’ve followed the NFL for a while, you know Mack Hollins isn’t your average wide receiver. He’s one of the league’s most colorful personalities, and his journey started in Philly when the Eagles drafted him in the fourth round back in 2017.
Hollins was part of that magical Super Bowl LII team, contributing with 26 catches for 351 yards and a touchdown during his time in midnight green. He’s bounced around the league since, but now he’s back in the big game, chasing his second ring-this time as a Patriot.
Milton Williams, DT - New England Patriots
Williams might be the most impactful former Eagle playing in this year’s Super Bowl. Drafted in the third round, he spent four seasons in Philly, gradually growing from rotational piece to key contributor.
His 2024 campaign was his breakout-five sacks in the regular season, two more in the playoffs, and a huge role in the Eagles’ Super Bowl run that year. Now in New England, he’s done it again.
In just his first season with the Patriots, Williams has helped anchor a defense that powered its way through the AFC. The Patriots paid a premium to bring him in, and so far, he’s been worth every penny.
The Philly Footprint on the Big Stage
No, the Eagles won’t be playing in Super Bowl 60, but their fingerprints are all over this game. From undrafted longshots to former draft picks turned playoff veterans, these five players have taken the lessons learned in Philadelphia and are now chasing football’s ultimate prize elsewhere.
For Eagles fans, it’s a bittersweet twist: the team may be out, but the legacy lives on-just in different colors this time around.
