An open-practice clip was enough to send Eagles fans into a frenzy Tuesday night, and the reason was almost comically simple: the offense actually looked creative.
The video that made the rounds showed the Eagles lining up a receiver in the backfield and sending him on a wheel route. That kind of design might not sound like much, but after last season’s bland passing game, it hit like a revelation.

That level of excitement says plenty about how starved this fan base was for even the most ordinary offensive creativity. A wheel route shouldn’t feel like a breakthrough, but after the Eagles’ vanilla offense, it did.
Still, the bigger offensive conversation for 2026 may not be about passing-game flair at all. The real issue is the health of Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson. As much as the Eagles struggled throwing the ball in 2025, they also couldn’t do the thing that powered their Super Bowl run the year before: they couldn’t run the ball.
That’s why the real question isn’t just whether the Eagles can add wrinkles in the passing game. It’s whether they can get back to the foundation that actually defines them. The return of the best offensive line in football matters more than any single wheel route.

It’s the line staying healthy. It’s Jalen Hurts and the coaching staff remembering that he’s a dual-threat quarterback.
If the passing game is good too, great. But for this team, everything has to begin on the ground and build from there.
