The Philadelphia Eagles' offseason took an unexpected turn when fans were hit with rumors of potential retirements from key offensive linemen Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson. However, Eagles faithful can breathe a sigh of relief as both players are set to return for the 2026 season.
Lane Johnson recently confirmed his comeback, putting to rest any doubts about his future with the team. Meanwhile, Landon Dickerson took a more subtle approach, using Instagram to hint at his return. His post, featuring two photos-one of him emerging from the tunnel and another rallying in the huddle-was accompanied by Eagles emojis, signaling his commitment for another season.
Dickerson, drafted in the second round in 2021, quickly established himself as the Eagles' starting left guard, earning Pro Bowl honors in his first three seasons. However, last season was challenging for him.
Injuries hampered his performance, and his Pro Football Focus grade dropped to 67.2, placing him 30th among 81 NFL offensive guards. Over 468 pass-blocking snaps, Dickerson allowed 32 pressures, seven quarterback hits, and five sacks, along with committing five penalties in 15 games.
It was evident that Dickerson wasn't his usual dominant self, struggling in pass protection and unable to ignite the run game as he had in previous seasons. The physical toll led him to contemplate retirement, frustrated by persistent injuries.
Despite last season's setbacks, the return of Dickerson and Johnson is a significant boost for the Eagles. With an offseason to recuperate, Dickerson has the opportunity to regain his Pro Bowl form and anchor the offensive line alongside Johnson. Eagles fans are hopeful that 2026 will see Dickerson back to his best, ready to make a significant impact once again.
