Week 3 of the 2026 NFL regular season brings another round of spreads to chew on, and the board is full of spots where the number matters as much as the matchup.
The Panthers are getting the nod on the road in Cleveland, and the reason is simple: Bryce Young has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL through two games, while Deshaun Watson has not been that. Carolina is laying 2.5, and that’s the play.
Detroit is also being backed at home against the Jets, even with the Lions’ defense in rough shape. The bigger issue is whether New York can actually make them pay for it. Detroit is coming off a Thursday game in Week 2, has had extra time to rest, and should score enough to clear 6.5.
Jacksonville gets the edge over New England at -2.5, with the logic centered on the Patriots’ offense. The concern is that they may not be able to put enough points on the board to get the job done.
Houston is another road favorite worth taking, even in an 0-2 AFC South matchup at Indianapolis. The Texans have shown the higher floor, while the Colts have flashed the higher ceiling. Still, Daniel Jones isn’t inspiring much confidence, so Houston at -1.5 is the call.
Kansas City is the biggest favorite on the slate at Miami, laying 10.5, and the pick is to ride with the Chiefs. Their offense is back to piling up points, and the Dolphins are an easy team to fade in this spot.
Seattle is asked to cover 7.5 at Washington, and the Commanders have enough issues to make that a tough ask. Marcus Mariota might be able to keep things competitive, but Washington is also dealing with injuries up front, including both of its starting offensive linemen. That leaves the Seahawks’ defense in a strong position.
There’s also a lean to the Giants laying 2.5 against Tennessee. The game comes on short rest for New York, but the Titans don’t look threatening. John Harbaugh is a better head coach than Robert Saleh, and Jameis Winston should be sharper with a full week of reps after Monday night.
Baltimore is another road favorite, this time at Dallas, and the Ravens are laying 3.5. Their Week 2 fourth-quarter collapse doesn’t erase the promise they showed in Week 1 under new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. Dallas has had trouble with mobile quarterbacks, which points toward a big Lamar Jackson performance and a Ravens win.
New Orleans gets the edge over Las Vegas at -3 in what looks like one of the more interesting games on the board. The Saints have Kellen Moore cooking, Tyler Shough has been one of the NFL’s better passers early, and even if the Raiders pull it out, there’s no reason to regret betting against Kirk Cousins.
The Rams are another road favorite the pick leans toward, laying 2.5 at Denver. Bo Nix doesn’t look good, and Los Angeles already showed its response ability after a rough Week 1 by bouncing back in Week 2. The expectation is that they win again here.
The lone underdog play comes in Chicago, where the Eagles are laying 3.5. Philadelphia is 2-0 straight up but 0-2 against the spread, and the Bears’ quarterback situation was still unsettled as this was written.
Prior to Tyson Bagent returning to practice on Saturday, the Eagles were 4.5-point road favorites, and the read was a 23-19 win over Case Keenum. With Bagent potentially available, that gets trimmed to 23-20, which is enough to make Chicago the side getting the points.
