Eagles Face A Pressure Game As Their Slide Starts Raising Bigger Questions

Discover cost-effective ways to catch the Eagles as they seek to break their losing streak against the high-flying Panthers in NFL Week 6.

The Eagles head into Week 6 trying to stop a slide, and they’ll have to do it Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field against a Carolina Panthers team coming in with real momentum.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET, with the game airing on CBS and available to stream on-demand.

Philadelphia is riding a three-game losing streak and dealing with an offense that has been stuck near the bottom of the league. The Eagles have scored just 92 total points, which puts them last in the NFC East and fourth-lowest in the NFL. Even so, they’ve stayed in the fight because the defense has repeatedly kept games within reach.

That unit was tested in back-to-back close losses. Philadelphia fell 24-20 to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead, then lost 19-17 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.

Against Jacksonville, the Eagles twice held late leads. Jake Elliott put Philadelphia ahead 17-16 on a 48-yard field goal with eight seconds left, but Ameer Abdullah brought the ensuing kickoff back 53 yards, setting up Cam Little’s 57-yard game-winning field goal as time expired.

The numbers from that loss were ugly for Philadelphia. Jacksonville outgained the Eagles 408-232, while the Eagles mustered just 22 rushing yards and went 0-for-2 on fourth-down tries. One of those failed attempts directly led to the Jaguars’ first touchdown of the game in the opening quarter.

Now comes a much different challenge. The Panthers arrive off a bye week and sit atop the NFC South at 2-2. Their offense has been one of the league’s best, ranking second in passing at 301.3 yards per game, third in total offense at 405.8 yards per game, and fourth in scoring at 30.3 points per game.

Carolina’s last outing was a 32-26 win over the Detroit Lions, and Bryce Young was sharp in that one, throwing for 329 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores went to Tetairoa McMillan, while Chuba Hubbard added 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns of his own. McMillan’s second touchdown catch in the third quarter gave Carolina the lead for good.

Jalen Hurts Backlash Just Added Another Layer To Eagles Concern

Jalen Hurts absence already landed hard in Philadelphia because of the medical seriousness behind it, and now the discussion around his injury has spilled into another layer of noise. The Eagles quarterback is sidelined after doctors found a blood clot that had moved, a development serious enough to keep him out at least against the Panthers, and the team has had to absorb the uncertainty without one of its defining players.

Former Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson only made the backdrop noisier when he questioned the injury circumstances on NFL Network, drawing a sharp public response from Robert Griffin III. Griffin pushed back on Robinsons remarks while also praising Drake Mayes recent play for New England, but for the Eagles, the larger issue remains the one they cannot shortcut: Hurts health and the wait to see how long this situation will keep him off the field. Eagles Just Sent A Complicated Signal On Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts being sidelined indefinitely has put the Eagles in an awkward spot, even as the team tries to keep its quarterback available for as long as possible. The injury, a superficial blood clot in his calf, is serious enough to pause his on-field work, but Philadelphia is not taking the next step that would lock him into a longer absence.

What makes the situation more complicated is the timing. The issue was already known by Week 4, and while medical experts believe Hurts could miss more than a month, the Eagles are leaving the door open rather than shutting it completely. For a team trying to navigate the next stretch without its starter, that means the focus shifts from a clean timeline to an uncertain wait that could stretch toward late October or early November. Jalen Hurts Drew Serious Backlash Over How His Health Was Discussed

Jalen Hurts health became the center of an ugly and unnecessary debate this week after an NFL Network analyst floated the idea that the Eagles quarterback could be using a blood clot to dodge blame for the teams offensive struggles. Michael Robinson later acknowledged he is not a medical expert, but his remarks still minimized the seriousness of a condition that has kept Hurts status in the spotlight and added another layer of noise around a season already under a microscope.

The reaction was swift, with former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III publicly pushing back and stressing that this is not the kind of issue that should be handled casually. For Philadelphia, the episode was another reminder of how quickly concerns about Hurts can spill beyond the field, especially when the conversation turns from football to health and the line between criticism and irresponsibility starts to blur.
