The Philadelphia Eagles entered the offseason with a mix of resolutions and fresh challenges. While they've secured Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, whispers of Landon Dickerson contemplating retirement due to persistent injuries have stirred the pot.
However, Eagles fans can breathe a sigh of relief. According to Verizon NFL host Derrick Gunn, Dickerson plans to return in 2026, despite grappling with health frustrations. Yet, as he gears up for the new season, there's always a risk of setbacks.
This situation underscores the need for the Eagles to bolster their offensive line depth as free agency looms. One potential target is New Orleans Saints lineman Dillon Radunz, who could serve as a reliable backup.
Radunz, drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2021 draft, has had an up-and-down career. His performance metrics, including a 48.5 overall grade in 2025 from Pro Football Focus, highlight some struggles.
Still, as a pass protector, he's shown promise-allowing just 23 pressures and one sack over 408 pass-blocking snaps last season, primarily at left guard for the Saints. His earlier issues, like the 11 total sacks allowed in 2023 and 2024, seem to be improving with experience.
While Radunz may not be suited for a full-time starting role, his versatility-having started as a tackle before moving inside-could be invaluable for the Eagles, especially if Lane Johnson faces any injuries.
The central concern remains Dickerson. His history of injuries is extensive, with two ACL tears in college and a series of ankle, foot, and knee issues in the NFL.
Despite these setbacks, Dickerson's resilience is evident in his 78 career games and 77 starts, including 15 last season. But the unpredictable nature of an offensive lineman's career is a reality the Eagles must prepare for, as illustrated by Frank Ragnow's unexpected retirement last year, which left the Detroit Lions scrambling.
To avoid a similar predicament, the Eagles should seriously consider adding depth through free agency, and Radunz could be a strategic addition.
