Eagles Eye NFC East Title As Over 30 Former Players Fall Short

As the Eagles push toward a division title, more than 30 of their former players are watching the playoffs from the sidelines.

With just a few weeks left in the 2025 NFL regular season, the playoff picture is starting to take shape - and for 12 teams, the window has already slammed shut. That group includes a surprising number of players with ties to the Philadelphia Eagles, whose own postseason fate is nearly sealed.

The Eagles are sitting in a strong position atop the NFC East. All they need is one win in their final three games to clinch the division and punch their playoff ticket.

And let’s be honest - they’re likely the only team from the NFC East headed to the dance. The Giants and Commanders have already been mathematically eliminated, and the Cowboys are hanging on by a thread with less than a 1% chance of sneaking in.

Meanwhile, a number of former Eagles will be watching the playoffs from home after Week 18, scattered across teams that couldn’t quite get it done this season. Here's a look at where some familiar Philly faces will see their seasons end:

Teams Eliminated from Playoff Contention (with Former Eagles)

Atlanta Falcons

  • Kentavius Street - The defensive lineman saw rotational snaps in Atlanta but won’t be part of the postseason chase.

Arizona Cardinals

  • PJ Mustipher, Josh Sweat - Sweat, once a key piece of the Eagles’ pass rush, now finds his season ending early in the desert.

Cincinnati Bengals

  • Oren Burks, Joe Flacco - Flacco’s late-career tour continues, but it won’t include playoff football this time around.

Cleveland Browns

  • DeAndre Carter [IR] - The return specialist and receiver ends the year on injured reserve.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Gardner Minshew, Janarius Robinson [IR], James Winchester - Minshew’s stint with the defending champs won’t stretch into January.

Las Vegas Raiders

  • Thomas Booker, Terrell Edmunds [PS], Tristin McCollum, Raheem Mostert, Albert Okwuegbunam [PS], Kenny Pickett, Devin White - A long list of ex-Eagles here, including Mostert and Pickett, but Vegas couldn’t stay in the hunt.

Miami Dolphins

  • Quinton Bell, Rasul Douglas - Douglas, once a fan favorite in Philly, finds himself on the outside looking in.

Minnesota Vikings

  • Javon Hargrave, Isaiah Rodgers, Carson Wentz [IR], Eric Wilson - Hargrave and Wentz, both former Eagles starters, won’t be suiting up in the postseason.

New Orleans Saints

  • Jack Stoll - The tight end’s year wraps up in New Orleans without a playoff appearance.

New York Giants

  • Cameron Johnston - The former Eagles punter won’t be part of the playoff field.

Tennessee Titans

  • No former Eagles listed, but they’re among the dozen teams officially out.

Washington Commanders

  • River Cracraft [PS], Zach Ertz [IR], Tyree Jackson [IR], Marcus Mariota, Jeremy Reaves - A heavy Philly presence in D.C., including Ertz, whose season ends on injured reserve.

Playoff-Bound Teams with a Philly Flavor

While some former Eagles are heading into the offseason early, others are gearing up for a postseason run - and a few teams with strong Philly connections are looking like serious contenders.

Chicago Bears

  • *Ryan Bates, Kevin Byard, T.J.

Edwards, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, D’Andre Swift, Olamide Zaccheaus*

Chicago is expected to lock up the NFC North, and they’re doing it with a heavy dose of Eagles DNA. Swift has been a key piece of their offense, and Gardner-Johnson continues to bring his trademark edge to the secondary.

New England Patriots

  • Christian Elliss, Mack Hollins, Milton Williams The Patriots are currently leading the AFC East, and their roster includes a trio of former Eagles who’ve carved out roles in Foxborough.

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Jack Driscoll (PS), Kenneth Gainwell, Lew Nichols (PS), Isaac Seumalo

The Steelers have surged to the top of the AFC North, and Gainwell is drawing praise along the way. After Monday night’s win over Miami, Aaron Rodgers didn’t hold back in complimenting the young running back, highlighting his vision and versatility in the backfield.

It’s clear Gainwell is earning respect league-wide.

As the regular season winds down, the Eagles are focused on securing the division and setting themselves up for a deep run. But across the league, their fingerprints are everywhere - from playoff hopefuls to teams already turning the page to next year. Whether it’s veterans chasing one last shot or young players finding their footing, the Philly connection runs deep.
