The NFL trade deadline is creeping up fast, and the Eagles have a chance to turn a few pending free agents into something useful before the clock runs out. With less than a week left, Philadelphia could look to squeeze value out of players who don’t seem likely to be part of the long-term picture.
One name that fits that mold is A.J. Epenesa.
He’s not someone the Eagles need to move because he can’t contribute, but because his future in Philadelphia looks shaky at best. Teams around the league that are still in the contender mix could use linebacker depth, and the Eagles have enough at the position to survive without him.
The return probably wouldn’t be flashy. A late-round pick feels like the most realistic outcome.
Still, that’s better than letting him walk for nothing. The Browns had interest in Epenesa during the offseason and even signed him before backing out after concerns about his physical.
Now that he has shown he’s healthy enough to play, that interest could surface again. Through six games this season, Epenesa has seven combined tackles and one pass defended.
A similar logic applies to Brown, only the case there is even more straightforward. He has no future in Philadelphia beyond this season, and plenty of teams could use another receiver for a playoff push.
Brown caught 49 passes for 587 yards and five touchdowns with the Kansas City Chiefs last season, so a return to Kansas City would make sense. Patrick Mahomes certainly wouldn’t mind another option.
If the Chiefs don’t get involved, other contenders like the Rams, Bills and 49ers could also take a look. Brown has only four total receptions with the Eagles, so a move would give him a fresh start and give Philadelphia a chance to get something back.
Moro Ojomo is the one player on this list who could bring back a meaningful haul. ESPN reported interest from the Jaguars, and with good reason. He’s a young defensive lineman with upside, and that kind of player tends to draw attention.
The Eagles already have major money committed up front with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, which makes Ojomo’s future tricky. There’s a real chance they won’t be able to match his market value after the season, and they may not even want to devote that kind of money to the defensive line when other spots need attention.
If Philadelphia were in the thick of a title chase, keeping Ojomo would be an easy call. But with that not being the case, the smarter move is to see what he can bring back before the deadline passes.

Former Eagles Are Thriving Elsewhere As Philadelphia's Season Unravels
As Philadelphias season continues to slip toward the brink at 2-6, a few familiar faces are making life look a lot easier elsewhere. Jahan Dotson turned in a big day for Tampa Bay, while Nakobe Dean was active in a Raiders win and Alex Singleton kept stuffing the stat sheet for Denver with a heavy tackle total and a sack. For an Eagles team searching for answers, the list of former contributors finding traction in new uniforms only sharpens the contrast.
There have been rougher reminders too. Cam Jurgens had a difficult afternoon in Baltimores loss to Buffalo, and Jaelan Phillips is now dealing with a hamstring injury in Carolina. It is the kind of scattered post-Eagles snapshot that can sting a little more when the current roster is fighting just to stay relevant, especially with playoff elimination closing in and the season's frustrations piling up. Eagles Ugly Start Is Putting Their Biggest Investments Under The Microscope
The Eagles six-game skid has done more than sink the season into a 2-6 hole. It has turned the spotlight onto the players the front office is counting on most, especially the expensive additions and extensions meant to anchor the roster for years to come. With a playoff run looking increasingly out of reach, every snap is being viewed through a longer lens, and the early returns have raised real questions about whether the teams biggest investments are tracking the way they should.
Jonathan Greenard, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter all sit at the center of that conversation, along with rookie Markel Bell, whose development matters in a different but still important way. Injuries, inconsistency and uneven production have made it harder to separate temporary struggles from deeper concerns, and the Eagles now have to sort out which problems are just part of a bad stretch and which ones could shape the rosters future well beyond this season. Jalen Hurts Just Gave Eagles Fans A Reason To Hope
Jalen Hurts has been out of action after being placed on injured reserve because of blood clots in his lungs, but his presence around the Eagles this week offered a small lift for a team trying to keep its footing without its quarterback. Reports said Hurts was at the practice facility and involved in team meetings, a reminder that even while he is sidelined, he still remains a visible part of the operation.
Nick Sirianni confirmed he has stayed in communication with Hurts, though he did not have any fresh medical update to share. For an organization and fan base looking for any encouraging sign, Hurts being around the team was enough to matter, even if the bigger questions about his recovery are still unanswered.
