Eagles Fans Can Breathe Easy: Jalen Hurts Is Fine After Blowout Win Over Raiders
After a dominant 31-0 win over the Raiders in Week 15, the Philadelphia Eagles looked like a team finally clicking again. But amid the celebration, there was a moment that gave fans a bit of a scare - a brief sequence that had some wondering if Jalen Hurts might’ve tweaked something, possibly a knee or ankle, just before delivering a 27-yard touchdown strike to A.J. Brown in the fourth quarter.
Then, Hurts was pulled from the game. Naturally, that only added fuel to the concern.
Was it precautionary? Was it injury-related?
Eagles fans have seen enough this season to worry when their quarterback exits early.
But head coach Nick Sirianni put those concerns to rest during his weekly appearance on SportsRadio 94 WIP.
“You guys are speculating there a little bit,” Sirianni said, shutting down the injury chatter. “He came in and threw a dime the very next play for a touchdown and then he came out because of the lead that we had.”
That’s about as clear as it gets. Hurts wasn’t pulled because he was hurt - he was pulled because the Eagles were up big, and there was no need to risk anything with the game already well in hand.
Hurts Looked Sharp in the Win - and Healthy
If there were any lingering questions about Hurts’ health or confidence heading into this one, he answered them quickly. He was efficient, poised, and in full command of the offense, going 12-of-15 for 175 yards and three touchdowns, with zero turnovers. He also added 39 yards on the ground, showing no hesitation to use his legs when needed - something that had been a point of contention earlier in the year.
There’s been a lot of noise around Hurts this season. From reports of locker room frustration to questions about whether he was avoiding designed QB runs, the pressure has been mounting. But against the Raiders, Hurts looked like the guy who nearly led the Eagles to a Super Bowl title - decisive, accurate, and dangerous both through the air and on the ground.
Eagles in Control as NFC East Race Nears the Finish Line
With the win, Philly sits in prime position heading into the final stretch. Just one more win secures the NFC East crown - and with it, a bit of history.
No team has repeated as division champs in 20 years. Now, the Eagles have three games left to make it happen.
Their path? Two matchups with the Washington Commanders - who’ll be without rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels - and a tough road test in Buffalo against the Bills.
It’s a manageable slate, but not without its challenges. The Commanders, even short-handed, can’t be overlooked in a divisional game, and the Bills are still fighting for playoff position in the AFC.
But with Hurts looking healthy and the offense regaining rhythm, the Eagles are trending in the right direction at the right time. And if Hurts continues to play like he did against Las Vegas, Philadelphia’s postseason hopes - and maybe more - are very much alive.
For now, Eagles fans can exhale. Their quarterback is fine. And with the division title within reach, the focus shifts to finishing strong and getting playoff-ready.
