Eagles Already Have A Lineup Problem Fans Cant Ignore

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for their Monday Night Football clash against the Bears, a closer look reveals four key players under scrutiny for underwhelming performances in the season's opening games.

The Eagles are heading into their Week 3 Monday Night Football matchup with the Bears carrying more questions than answers after two uneven weeks. Philadelphia has gotten too many quiet, shaky, or flat-out damaging performances from players who were supposed to help stabilize things, and that leaves the coaching staff with a hard conversation: who actually deserves to keep seeing the field?

A few names stand out as players who have looked far closer to problems than solutions so far in the 2026 season.

Marcus Epps has been one of the clearest examples. The safety has already missed three tackles, and his work in coverage has turned into a concern after he’s allowed a passer rating of 118.8.

Through two games, he has only nine tackles, and the performance against the Titans in Week 2 was enough to raise real alarms. Kenny Moore was brought in for a reason, and the Eagles can’t keep rolling Epps out there if he keeps playing like that.

Cam Jurgens is in a tougher spot, because the Eagles have asked him to handle left guard for the first time in his career. Still, the issues started even before that switch.

In Week 1, he was flagged for two penalties at center, and this season he has given up three pressures, one quarterback hit, and one sack. He’s a two-time Pro Bowl center, but the version of Jurgens Eagles fans saw in 2024 hasn’t shown up, and the current setup may be asking too much.

It might make sense to move him back to center or sit him down until Landon Dickerson returns and the line can be reshuffled.

Arnold Ebiketie was supposed to be a useful offseason addition on the edge, but through 43 total snaps, there hasn’t been much to point to. He has three tackles, but no pressures and no hurries. That’s the problem: the Eagles added him expecting some juice as a young pass rusher, especially after what he showed with the Atlanta Falcons, and instead he has been almost invisible.

Makai Lemon rounds out the list, and his case is different from the others because the talent is there. The issue is that it hasn’t translated into impact.

He caught a 14-yard pass against Tennessee and finished with -5 yards rushing, but beyond that, he hasn’t looked like a player the Eagles can lean on. If he isn’t helping on screen passes and isn’t trusted to run vertically, then the role itself starts to look shaky.

Darius Cooper has been more productive in the passing game, and that could force the Eagles to rethink how they’re using Lemon.

DeVonta Smith Just Gave The Eagles A New Offensive Worry

DeVonta Smiths status is suddenly something the Eagles have to monitor closely, with the wideout missing Thursdays practice because of a hamstring injury. Its a familiar concern for Philadelphia after Smith dealt with a hamstring issue earlier in training camp, and the timing matters with another game coming up against the Bears.

Smith was a key part of the offense in the win over Tennessee, so any setback there carries real weight for the Eagles passing game. If he cannot go, the offense may need to lean more heavily on Dontayvion Wicks, who would be in line for a bigger workload depending on how the week unfolds. [Read more 🡒]

Eagles Injury Report Looks Bad But One Detail Changes The Panic

The Eagles Week 3 injury report looks crowded enough to make anyone pause, with several offensive names either missing or limited in practice. Running backs Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley and Saquon Barkley all showed up on it, along with wide receiver DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert, while the defensive side included Jalen Carter, Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Mukuba in some form of participation.

Still, the timing softens the alarm a bit, because Philadelphia has an extra day to get ready before its Monday night matchup with the Chicago Bears. That matters when the list includes players who are still working through the week rather than being fully shut down, and it gives the Eagles a little more runway to sort out who is truly in danger of missing game day and who is simply dealing with the usual late-September wear and tear. Zach Ertzs Return Hints At Eagles Plan For A Key Young Tight End

Zach Ertz finally spoke publicly after re-signing with the Eagles, and his return offered a clear glimpse at part of the plan in Philadelphia. The veteran tight end is set up to help guide rookie Eli Stowers, a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft who is currently on injured reserve and still waiting for his first NFL snap after injuries and the usual adjustment curve of pro football.

For a team that has long valued tight end play, bringing Ertz back is about more than nostalgia. His willingness to help Stowers develop suggests the Eagles see a real long-term role for the young player, and they are giving him a chance to learn before he ever gets on the field. For now, the intrigue is in how much growth Philadelphia can unlock once Stowers is healthy enough to join the mix. [Read more 🡒]
