The Eagles are adding another Brandon to the mix - but this one is Brandon George.
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Philadelphia is signing free agent linebacker Brandon George, a 25-year-old who grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and played college football at Pitt. He originally joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft.
George’s path in Kansas City never really got off the ground. He spent the entire 2025 season on injured reserve, even though the Chiefs had shown pre-draft interest in him and there was at least some belief he could work his way onto the roster. The Chiefs later waived him in May to create room for their 2026 UDFA signings.
For the Eagles, this is the kind of move that makes sense as camp bodies stack up and the roster starts to take shape. Philadelphia already has plenty of talent and depth at off-ball linebacker, though Chance Campbell has recently been limited in practice because of a groin injury. George’s best path to sticking will likely come on special teams, where he can try to separate himself from the pack.
At minimum, he gives the Eagles another option for practice work and preseason snaps.
The team has not yet announced a corresponding move to clear a roster spot for George.
Scouting reports have painted a clear picture of what he brings. George is described as an inside linebacker with a burly frame and strong pro-day testing numbers.
He spent most of his six-year college career as a special teams mainstay and was a full-time starter only once, in 2024. The knocks are just as clear: he can be slow to diagnose run fits, lacks the burst to range sideline to sideline, and is a liability in coverage.
Still, his size, strength, testing and special-teams background give him a chance - the kind of profile that usually fits best as an undrafted free agent.
