The Giants may be sitting at 4-2-1, but the buzz around their trade deadline plans is pointing in a very specific direction. If New York does decide to go shopping, the biggest swing appears to be on the defensive line, not at running back.
NFL insider James Palmer said the Giants have been “very aggressive” in trade conversations for help up front. He also noted that the team has been “very aggressive, just like Jacksonville on that defensive front,” adding, “There have been some names contacted around the NFL... that I didn’t expect teams would be reaching out about because they’re borderline untouchable.”
That kind of language suggests the Giants are not just poking around the edges. They’re looking hard at impact talent, and they seem willing to spend to get it.
A few names naturally jump out. Moro Ojomo of the Philadelphia Eagles probably doesn’t fit the bill, since an in-division deal is unlikely. Derrick Brown of the Carolina Panthers and Vita Vea of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be bigger swings and could be in play.
There are also more realistic targets. Grover Stewart of the Indianapolis Colts stands out as one possibility, while Nnamdi Madibuike of the Baltimore Ravens could become an option if Baltimore decides to sell. New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore also makes plenty of sense, and Bobby Brown III of the Panthers plus New Orleans Saints defensive tackles Davon Godchaux and Nathan Shepherd are other names worth keeping on the radar.
The Giants had already made a push for Jeffery Simmons before he was dealt to the Chicago Bears, which fits the broader picture here: this is a team willing to chase a top-tier lineman if the opportunity is there.
That doesn’t mean running back is completely off the table, and another position or two could still be considered. But right now, the defensive line is the spot to watch for the Giants as the 2026 NFL trade deadline approaches.

Nick Foles Just Said What Eagles Fans Have Been Thinking
Nick Foles has never been shy about the Philadelphia Eagles, and his latest comments landed because they came from a place fans know well: frustration with how the organization has operated. Speaking on podcasts, the former Super Bowl quarterback pointed to concerns about the teams culture and offensive coaching, saying his criticism is meant for the fan base and aimed at pushing the franchise toward improvement.
For Eagles supporters, it is the kind of candid assessment that echoes a familiar unease whenever the offense stalls or the operation feels out of sync. Foles did not frame it as a drive-by shot so much as a message from someone who has lived inside the building and still feels invested in what happens there, even if the details of his sharpest comparisons remain part of the larger conversation. Eagles Suddenly Have A Backup QB Situation Fans Need To Watch
The Eagles backup quarterback picture has gotten a little murkier heading into the matchup with the Giants. Tanner McKee was limited in practice because of a rib injury, and after recently losing the No. 2 job to Joe Milton, his status now adds another layer to a position group that was already shifting behind Jalen Hurts.
Cole Payton would move up as the top backup if McKee cant go, which is the kind of depth chart wrinkle teams usually prefer to avoid this late in the season. McKees situation is worth watching beyond just Sunday, too, with reports suggesting Philadelphia may look to move him before the trade deadline and no expectation that hell be back after this year. Eagles Make A QB Change With Offense Desperate For A Spark
With the offense searching for a jolt, Nick Sirianni confirmed Philadelphia is turning to Joe Milton over Tanner McKee for its Week 9 game against the Giants. The switch comes after the Eagles spent time weighing their options with general manager Howie Roseman and the offensive staff, a sign the decision was not made lightly as the team looks for a different look under center.
Sirianni also said he had hoped to keep the move quiet to preserve a competitive edge, but the news leaked before kickoff through ESPN. Even with the reveal out in the open, the choice still leaves the Eagles with a fresh wrinkle at quarterback and a clear sense that the staff believes a change was needed to spark the unit.
