The Denver Broncos had their sights set on tight end Dallas Goedert during free agency, but the Philadelphia Eagles managed to lock him down with a new deal. With Goedert off the table, the Broncos might turn their attention to another talented tight end, the Browns' David Njoku, who remains unsigned.
Goedert, at 31, has been a reliable force for the Eagles since they picked him in the second round back in 2018. He originally inked a four-year deal worth just over $5.6 million, with a modest base salary of $1.246 million in 2021. But recognizing his value, the Eagles extended his contract in 2021 with a hefty four-year, $59 million deal.
As Goedert was heading into the last year of that extension, set to earn $14.25 million in 2025, he re-negotiated for the upcoming season, opting for a one-year deal to stay with the Eagles in 2026. His performance in 2025 was nothing short of impressive-playing in 15 games, he hauled in 60 receptions for 591 yards and found the end zone 11 times.
Now, with the Broncos on the hunt for a dynamic presence at tight end, all eyes might be on Njoku as a potential addition to bolster their offense.
