Brian Daboll Linked to Titans Over Eagles in OC Shakeup

Brian Dabolls next move could reshape multiple coaching staffs, as he weighs high-profile coordinator offers while remaining in play for a head coaching role.

Brian Daboll’s OC Carousel: Eagles Still Searching as Titans Emerge as Likely Destination

The Philadelphia Eagles’ search for a new offensive coordinator has taken a few twists, and as of today, it looks like Brian Daboll is veering off their path.

Let’s walk through how we got here.

Back on January 14, Daboll and Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel were reportedly the two top names on Philly’s radar for the OC role. Daboll, fresh off a turbulent stint with the Giants, brought instant credibility as a play-caller with deep experience and a proven ability to scheme around his quarterback’s strengths. Naturally, the Eagles were intrigued.

By January 18, Daboll was expected to sit down with the Eagles’ brass, and he did just that two days later. The meeting came at a pivotal moment in Philadelphia’s offseason-after a disappointing finish, the team was clearly looking to reset the offensive tone and bring in a voice capable of maximizing Jalen Hurts and a still-loaded skill group.

Then came a wrinkle. On January 21, reports surfaced that if Daboll didn’t land the Buffalo Bills’ head coaching job, he was expected to become the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans.

That Bills job was a real possibility, given his previous success in Buffalo as Josh Allen’s OC, but it wasn’t meant to be. On January 27, the Bills made their decision, promoting Joe Brady to the top job.

That leaves Daboll in a holding pattern-at least temporarily. According to the latest from The Athletic, if he doesn’t get the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coaching gig, he’s expected to choose Tennessee over Philadelphia.

That’s a tough look for the Eagles. Daboll wasn’t a guaranteed home run, but he was arguably the most seasoned play-caller available. The idea that he might prefer the Titans’ situation-where quarterback questions abound and the roster is in transition-over Philly’s more stable offensive core is, at the very least, a bit surprising.

Of course, there’s always more to the story. Coaching decisions often come down to relationships, organizational fit, or even just timing. Still, from the outside, it feels like the Eagles are watching a top target slip through their fingers.

So where does that leave them?

Kevin Patullo, the team’s current passing game coordinator, remains on staff. Whether he’s a serious candidate for promotion or simply a holdover during the search remains unclear. But with Daboll trending toward Tennessee, the Eagles will need to pivot quickly if they want to lock in a new offensive voice ahead of a crucial offseason.

As of now, the list of known candidates beyond Daboll hasn’t been made public, but expect the Eagles to cast a wide net. Whether they go with an internal promotion, a rising assistant from another staff, or a more under-the-radar veteran, the pressure is on to get this hire right.

Because make no mistake-this isn’t just about calling plays. It’s about getting the most out of Jalen Hurts, re-establishing offensive rhythm, and making sure the Eagles don’t waste the prime of a talented roster.

The Daboll chapter may be closing, but the Eagles’ OC search is far from over.
