A.J. Brown's Future with Eagles Sparks Intense Trade Speculation

Amid escalating trade rumors, A.J. Brown's future with the Eagles remains uncertain, yet a pre-June trade appears improbable without a blockbuster offer.

The trade chatter surrounding Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is reaching a fever pitch.

Recent reports suggest it's almost certain that the star receiver will be on the move. According to Jason La Canfora, several teams have shown interest, but the Eagles are standing firm on a hefty asking price, reportedly more than a first-round pick.

There's a twist in the tale, though. Trading Brown before June 1st would hit the Eagles with over $43 million in dead cap, making the timing of any potential deal quite tricky. Some league insiders believe a trade is unlikely before that date unless an irresistible offer comes Philadelphia's way.

One general manager shared with Canfora, “Howie doesn’t have to do anything now, and you’re going to have to really blow him away to get it done before June 1.” It seems the Eagles are open to moving Brown, but only for the right price and possibly not until June.

The Rams and Patriots have emerged as frontrunners in the Brown sweepstakes, with many executives pegging New England as the current favorite. Despite signing Romeo Doubs in free agency, the Patriots appear keen on securing a top-tier receiver, a move they can afford since quarterback Drake Maye isn't yet up for a contract extension.

Brown, now 28, was originally a second-round pick by the Titans in 2019. He was traded to the Eagles while still on his rookie deal, which was a four-year, $5.5 million contract. After joining Philadelphia, Brown inked a four-year, $100 million deal, including $57 million guaranteed, and later extended for three years at $96 million, with $84 million guaranteed.

In the 2025 season, Brown was a key player for the Eagles, catching 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns over 15 games. His performance continues to make him a coveted asset, and the coming months will reveal if his future remains in Philadelphia or elsewhere.
