Sixers Reveal First Look At Their Next Wave For Summer League

As the 2026 NBA Summer League approaches, the Philadelphia Sixers are set to showcase rookie sensation Labaron Philon Jr., highlighting an exciting roster for fans to watch.

The Philadelphia Sixers are bringing a familiar mix of youth and returning talent to Las Vegas, and rookie Labaron Philon Jr. is the name at the top of the list.

Philadelphia announced its 2026 Summer League roster on Monday, with Philon leading the group after being selected No. 22 in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Alabama guard arrives off a strong sophomore season, one in which he averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 30.9 minutes across 33 games.

He’ll be joined by 2025 second-round pick Johni Broome, who was the 35th pick in last year’s draft and also spent time on the Sixers’ Summer League roster last summer. Broome logged 26 games with the Delaware Blue Coats, where he put up 21.8 points on 46.7-percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals in 32.9 minutes per game. He also appeared in 11 NBA games for Philadelphia, averaging 1.5 rebounds in 5.0 minutes per game while dealing with a knee injury.

The roster also includes more familiar Delaware connections. Saint Thomas, who was with the Sixers in summer league last season and played for the Blue Coats alongside Broome, is back on the team. Drew Cisse, another player who spent time in Delaware, is also on this year’s Summer League roster.

T.J. DiLeo will coach the group for the second straight season.

The Las Vegas NBA Summer League runs from July 9-19, and the Sixers open play on July 9 against the Detroit Pistons. All games will be available across ESPN and Prime Video streams.

Lakers Could Circle Back To A Former Sixers Fan Frustration

The Lakers have already addressed one need by signing Kevon Looney to a one-year deal as a backup center, but they are still weighing another move on the wing. Jonathan Kuminga is among the names in the mix, and Matisse Thybulle has surfaced as the kind of defensive-minded option that could fit if Los Angeles decides to go a different direction.

For Sixers fans, Thybulle's name still carries plenty of recognition because of the havoc he used to create on the perimeter in Philadelphia. Jovan Buhas read on the Lakers' thinking points to him as a possible fallback, which is the sort of twist that keeps a former fan frustration in the rumor mill even after he has moved on from the East Coast. Celtics Just Shocked The East By Splitting Up Jayson Tatum And Jaylen Brown

The Celtics have made one of the boldest calls in the East, ending the long-running Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown pairing and signaling a clear shift in how they want to build. Bostons decision reflects a belief that Tatum is the better player to anchor the franchise, a stance that closes the book on nearly a decade of the two wings sharing the spotlight and reshapes the balance of power in the conference.

For Philadelphia, the move adds another layer to a rivalry that already had plenty of edge, because Brown now enters the picture on the other side of one of the leagues most familiar matchups. The bigger question is how Bostons new direction will hold up once the games matter, especially with the Celtics making it plain that Tatum is the centerpiece and not part of any trade discussion. Dean Wade Just Got His First Real Philly Warning

Dean Wade is already getting a feel for what life looks like in Philadelphia after signing with the 76ers this offseason. The forward is expected to step into the starting power forward role and fit alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, which means the spotlight will be on him from the start in a city that tends to notice everything, especially from new faces.

Former teammate Georges Niang has given Wade a preview of what comes with that stage, and it is not exactly subtle. The message was simple: the fanbase can be as good as any in the league, but only if a player handles the game the right way, and in Philadelphia that standard is never far away. [Read more 🡒]
