Sixers Eye Dynamic Forward in 2026 NBA Draft Shake-Up

As the Philadelphia 76ers strategize for future success, a mock draft hints at adding Arizona's dynamic forward Koa Peat as a promising piece in the 2026 NBA draft lineup.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a heated battle to secure a playoff spot, aiming to bypass the play-in tournament and clinch a top-six finish. But as the NCAA Tournament kicks off, it's also a prime moment to look toward the future and the upcoming draft.

Now, the Sixers don't have control over their own draft pick this year. It's top-four protected and set to go to the Oklahoma City Thunder, thanks to the Al Horford trade back in 2020, unless it lands in the top four. However, they do hold a first-round pick from the Houston Rockets, acquired during the Jared McCain trade to the Thunder at the deadline.

In a recent mock draft by Sports Illustrated, the Sixers are projected to pick Arizona forward Koa Peat at No. 24.

Peat is a powerhouse, using his strength to exploit mismatches while playing with relentless energy. Though his outside shot is still a work in progress-mechanics included-he's a versatile forward with significant potential.

The main concern is his size; he's a bit undersized for a four in the NBA.

Peat is currently putting up solid numbers for the Big 12 champion Arizona Wildcats, averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, with a 31.6% shooting rate from deep. While picks in the 20s don't always yield stars, landing a reliable role player can be a win. Peat could be that guy for the Sixers, contributing in multiple facets of the game.
