Philadelphia 76ers Eye Playoff Spot as Key Players Near Return
As the Philadelphia 76ers gear up for the final 10 games of the 2025-26 season, their sights are set on securing a top-six finish in the Eastern Conference to bypass the play-in tournament. With the return of Paul George from a 25-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy, the focus now shifts to the anticipated comebacks of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Embiid, sidelined since February 26 due to a right oblique strain, is crucial for the Sixers' playoff aspirations. His presence on the court is vital to synchronize the team's dynamics as they approach the season's climax.
Coach Nick Nurse provided an update, saying, "He was on court again today, had a decent workout during shootaround, and followed up with another session. We’ve got a heavier practice lined up tomorrow, and we’ll evaluate his progress from there."
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey, out since March 7 with a right finger tendon strain, is set for re-evaluation at the end of March. Despite the injury, Maxey has maintained his fitness, primarily working with his left hand, but was spotted taking some right-handed shots during Monday's shootaround.
"Maxey’s been putting in solid work," Nurse commented. "He’s moving well and getting decent workouts in.
We’re hopeful for his evaluation this weekend or early next week. We’ll see where he stands at the three-week mark."
As the Sixers navigate these final games, the return of their star players could be the key to making a strong playoff push. Coach Nurse and the team are determined to hold their ground until their lineup is back to full strength.
