It’s been about a month since LeBron James made the move to the Philadelphia 76ers, and Bob Myers is making his case for why that decision says plenty about the star’s mindset.
Speaking on Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter’s Cousins podcast, Myers said Philadelphia gives James the clearest shot at winning. But he also framed the choice as something bigger than roster math.
“I told, I go, “If you hook me up to a polygraph, forget who I work for, ask me where I think he has the best chance to win…”

McGrady jumped in and pointed to Joel Embiid’s health.
“Right. But also, as basketball heads, like we gotta take into consideration, yes, we look at this team as the best chance for him to win, but we also look at the center in Joel Embiid…Sure … that hasn't been healthy for the last-”
Myers didn’t push back on that concern. Instead, he agreed that Embiid’s availability is part of the conversation.
“Totally. By the way, if Joel was, if he had no issue, then it's done, done.
Like forget it, it's nothing to talk about. So yeah, sure, I'm sure there was a pause of like, ‘Okay, is he gonna be healthy?'
Now, if you see him working out like lately, he's- Yeah … he's got the message. He's good.
He's doing it. But the question then is, I think if you wanna take away something from this, this is what I would tell anybody watching or you two, take away, if you ever questioned the motivations of LeBron, he chose the hardest path, I think.”
Myers had made a similar pitch to Rich Paul on the Game Over podcast, saying Philadelphia was the place to sell if the conversation was strictly about winning.
“If he was here I’d say ‘I honestly believe this is your best chance to win. You have to decide all the other things that are equally important.'
What I would just say is, if it’s about winning, let’s talk about this team. Because you can win here in Philadelphia”
