Mavericks
Kyrie Irving won't be hitting the court for the Mavericks this season, as the team has decided to hold off on his return. While he's making steady progress from ACL reconstruction on his left knee, the Mavericks are playing it safe, aiming for a comeback next season.
Irving's injury happened almost a year ago against Sacramento, and he underwent surgery shortly after. In a statement, Irving acknowledged that the decision was tough but necessary, emphasizing his focus on returning stronger for the 2026-27 season.
His agent, Shetellia Riley Irving, echoed this sentiment, telling ESPN's Shams Charania that their main goal is ensuring Kyrie is fully healthy when he makes his return. With Dallas out of playoff contention and focusing on a younger core around Cooper Flagg, there’s no rush to bring Irving back prematurely.
76ers
Cameron Payne is back with the 76ers, as the team officially announced his signing. Payne returns to Philadelphia after a stint with Partizan Belgrade, where the Serbian club will receive a $1.75 million buyout. Philadelphia will cover up to $875,000 of that amount.
At 31, Payne played 10 games overseas, posting averages of 12.4 points and 3.9 assists. Having finished last season with the Sixers, he's expected to bolster their backcourt depth following the trade of Jared McCain. Philadelphia is gearing up to face Atlanta on Thursday.
Hawks
The Hawks are making moves as they plan to waive Nikola Djurisic to open up a roster spot. Caleb Houstan has been lighting it up in the G League, averaging 15.9 points per game for College Park, and looks poised for more opportunities with Atlanta.
