PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have made a pivotal move by converting Jabari Walker's two-way deal into a standard contract, allowing the big man to suit up for games once more. After reaching his 50-game limit on the two-way deal, Walker was sidelined for the last four games before the All-Star break, forcing coach Nick Nurse to juggle his bench strategy.
Walker is now set to rejoin the team on the court, eager to contribute to the Sixers' success. Known for his work ethic and willingness to handle the gritty tasks, Walker brings a passion for the game that's infectious.
Reflecting on his absence, Walker shared, "Being out those last four games really showed me how much I care about this team and being on the court. I was ready to play for free just to be part of it. It feels great to put that behind me, connect with the guys, get some practices in, and be back with the group."
While his season averages stand at 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds, Walker's per-36-minute stats jump to 10.9 points and 9.1 rebounds. As a reserve, he injects energy and reliability into the lineup, qualities the Sixers can count on consistently.
During the All-Star break, Walker took some time to recharge with family and friends but couldn't shake the stress over his contract situation. With that resolved, his focus is back on the team.
"I spent the break with family and friends, but there was always that worry about getting back out here," Walker admitted. "Now, I can relax and concentrate on playing."
The Sixers are gearing up to face the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, aiming to bounce back after two pre-break losses. Walker's return could be just the boost they need.
