Evan Turner, a familiar face for NBA fans, recently made waves with his candid remarks about the Philadelphia 76ers during his appearance on NBC. Turner, who spent a decade in the league from 2010 to 2020, was the second overall pick by the 76ers in the 2010 draft.
Over four seasons with Philadelphia, he played 279 games, averaging 11.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. While he didn't quite hit the lofty expectations set for a second pick, Turner carved out a respectable career as a solid role player.
Now an analyst for NBC, Turner brings his insider perspective to the current NBA landscape. During a discussion about the 76ers' recent matchup against the Miami Heat, Turner didn't hold back, kicking things off with a lighthearted jab at his former team: “I can't stand Philadelphia,” he quipped.
As if on cue, the 76ers fell to the Heat, 119-109, on the road. Philadelphia started strong, leading 61-58 at halftime, but Miami turned the tables in the second half, outscoring them 61-48.
Despite the loss, six players from Philadelphia scored in double figures. Joel Embiid led the charge with 26 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a block.
Tyrese Maxey followed with 23 points and nine assists, while Paul George added 19 points and four rebounds. VJ Edgecombe contributed 13 points and five assists, with Kelly Oubre Jr. and Quentin Grimes each adding 11 points.
The defeat leaves the 76ers with a 41-34 record, sitting seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. They’re ahead of the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat but trail the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors.
