CLEVELAND, Ohio - Penn State's wrestling future looks incredibly bright, thanks to the stellar performances of freshmen PJ Duke and Marcus Blaze at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Both grapplers made a significant impact in their debut appearances, with Duke securing third place at 157 pounds and Blaze finishing fourth at 133 pounds.
PJ Duke capped off his tournament with a commanding victory over Ohio State’s Brandon Cannon, marking his third win against Cannon this season. Duke dominated the bronze medal match, achieving a 20-4 technical fall in just over six minutes.
His relentless offensive strategy was on full display, as he racked up six takedowns, showcasing the consistency and skill that earned him All-America honors. Duke's performance highlighted his ability to rise to the occasion, especially against familiar opponents on the national stage.
Meanwhile, Marcus Blaze also delivered an impressive tournament run, earning All-America status with his fourth-place finish. Despite falling to Virginia Tech’s Aaron Seidel in a 5-0 decision during the third-place match, Blaze's efforts throughout the tournament underscored his potential and skill. Competing at Rocket Arena, Blaze demonstrated the tenacity and talent that make him a key player in Penn State's promising freshman class.
