Malachi Goodman is a name Penn State fans should keep an eye on. As the top recruit in the Nittany Lions' 2025 freshman class, Goodman entered the college football scene with high expectations. Hailing from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey, he was ranked 19th nationally by 247Sports, and his stock only rose after a standout senior season and impressive performances at the Navy All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
Gabe Brooks, a scouting analyst at 247Sports, highlighted Goodman's unique blend of skills. "We love Goodman for his power and upside as a versatile offensive lineman," Brooks noted.
"His punch power, hand quickness, and strength are top-notch, and he has the agility to reach the second level. While he's still fine-tuning his technique, his youth and physical tools suggest he'll be a multiyear starter."
Tyler Calvaruso, a recruiting insider, echoed these sentiments. "Goodman's potential was impossible to ignore," he said.
"He could be an early draft pick. Having seen him play in high school, I believe he can be a significant contributor at the college level."
Calvaruso also mentioned Goodman's physical transformation, noting his improved muscle mass and reduced weight.
Despite not enrolling early, Goodman quickly adapted to college life. Last summer, offensive line coach Phil Trautwein described him as a dedicated player eager to refine his skills. Recruited for his versatility, Goodman primarily focused on tackle, taking most of his reps on the left side with the scout team.
Though Goodman didn't see game action in 2025 and hasn't yet spoken to reporters, new offensive line coach Ryan Clanton offered insights into his development. "His raw talent and physical build are impressive," Clanton remarked. "Plus, he's a great person."
As Goodman continues to develop, Penn State fans have every reason to be excited about his future contributions to the team.
